I must say I had high expectations about Howard Park. It has won awards. When we got there, the host was very friendly and welcoming which is great. However, the wine is nice but not outstanding, given the very high prices. If I try a wine at $35 or $40 a bottle, I do expect high quality. Was disappointed.

Howard Park source their grapes from three important wine regions... but despite the excellence of their Plantagenet and Mount Barker grapes, we still prefer their Margaret River (Madfish) riesling... at around half the price! Howard Park hosts some great local events, including TropFest... and today we enjoyed their Oysters and Riesling Picnic. For non-oyster-scoffing picnickers, the MezCal Van served an array of quick treats, while a DJ provided better-than-muzak at a sound level permitting friendly conversation. Service has always been first-class at Howard Park... and... *shucks*... today was no exception... !~

We tasted some delicious wines, enhanced so much by the attention and care shown by Danni who made us feel so welcome....

Howard Park winery is definitely worth visiting. High quality wines, professional, friendly service and generous tastings. This would be my pick of the wineries to visit in Denmark.

A big thank you to the managers and staff at Howard Park for organising this fabulous event. We happened to be in Denmark the night the we're showing The Great Gatsby. It was a perfect night. The Howard Park SBS we enjoyed with our cheese & biscuits (as well as the burger we bought from the local group offering food on the night) was superb. The weather was obliging - though cool to cold after the sun went down - the sunset was lovely and the stars twinkled beautifully.Highly recommended.

As one of the major wineries of south-western Western Australia, this is certainly a good spot to visit. Through this cellar door, you can get Howard Park and MadFish wines made from across the Great Southern and Margaret River wine regions. With their multiple regions and different grape varieties, they cater for a range of budgets and palates. For us, the sparkling wines and some of the rieslings were not to our liking (a bit too acidic), but the others were excellent. A little gem is their Carnelian -- a hybrid red grape from the US -- which is only available through their cellar door or ordering direct from the winery. Unfortunately there will only be two more vintages of this wine (2010 and 2011), as they chose to rip out those vines as the wine wasn't selling!Compared to other wineries in the region, the prices are a little higher, but you are paying for the prestige (with so many wine awards).Would recommend visiting this place via the Mount Macleod Road-Scotsdale Road scenic drive. It's well worth the trip off the highway.
