There are two ways to get into Isla; one is to travel to Flagstaff Hill (4WD required); the other is to go into the lookout. It's only 1.3 kms off the Leichhardt Highway and there are toilets at the site as well as picnic tables. You can also camp overnight here for a nominal fee though facilities are basic.The vast majority of people will have a look and depart within 15 minutes. If you're a little adventurous and want to get some fascinating snaps, then I recommend you try and get up close and personal with the rock faces.From the lookout you can't see the arches and half the caves. Also, you miss the stuff that is right beneath you. Having said all that, you need a reasonable degree of fitness and a sense of adventure to get off the ridges, it's not for everyone. Personally, I found the rewards more than justified the exercise.
