We have now seen the Lawdogs show on four occasions and have enjoyed every one. From humble beginnings four years ago, Matt and his staff provide an informative and entertaining performance. The dogs are trained using a "carrot" rather than a "stick" approach and are trained to become either guard or detection dogs. Matt also rehabilitates dogs that have been neglected or mistreated.Matt, Felicity and all the staff show great love, respect and kindness for the animals. Their warmth is palpable. The show has something for everyone. We are not great dog lovers but it does not matter. Our children enjoyed the show as well and were able to plant some "contraband" in the arena to test the dog's detecting abilities.Stanthorpe : wineries, apples and Lawdogs !Thanks Matt.Dean, Kathleen, Michael and James Guy.
Professional, captivating display of training or rehabbing dogs to their breeding skills. Well done guys. We learnt so much. Loved the way you all coped with adversity of bucketing down rain, & smelly wet doggies.
Friendly and welcoming. The staff and handlers were very knowledgeable and happy to answer all of our questions. The show was very informative, the dogs were in beautiful condition and you could tell they were having great fun in the demonstrations. Loved being invited in to pat a puppy as part of it's socialising training. It was also wonderful to know that the small entrance fee would assist in their dog rescue and rehabilitation work.
This is a fantastic show for all ages. Extremely fun, informative and interactive. The trainers are brilliant and so kind. And the dogs are fierce, beautiful and so obedient, it's simply amazing. We absolutely loved it and would not only recommend it, but will definitely be going back again. Thanks Matt, see you soon.
This was something a bit different from the usual attractions in regional towns: seeing dogs being trained for protection and detection put through their paces at various stages of their training journey, from pups through to adult dogs. All dogs are German Shepherds, beautifully looked after and obviously loved, and don't they just love putting on a show?! It was clear that they are taught through fun and reward, not through fear or intimidation. The owner delivers a very entertaining and informative commentary, there are opportunities for a little interaction with the dogs, and it's a great hour for the whole family for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.
From the warm greeting to the wealth of knowledge and love for what they do on constant display, I cant recommend a visit to Lawdogs any higher. The work these beautiful animals do is simply amazing and the interactive components made the visit even more enjoyable for my sons. For anyone visiting the Granite Belt this attraction must be at the top of your itinerary.
Read previous reviews which helped us pick the venue and wasn't disappointed what a brilliant show which kept my husband, teenage children and myself very intrigued. Would recommend for anyone travelling to the region well worth it
Great show presenting unusual business. Happy dogs trained well by nice people. While waiting for show you could walk around and see some puppies, sheep and chicken - nice entertainment for small children. After show you could ask any questions about guard dogs and their training and receive good answers from real experts.
We had car trouble the day we planned on going to visit Lawdogs, so I actually missed it whilst taking the car to the garage! However, I did catch the last 10 mins or so but my 3 kids were buzzing after the experience and were all very keen to fill me in on the details at the same time. It was a quiet day and the got the place to themselves, so the staff gave them a very personal experience and they all got a chance to get involved. The each had their own favorite sand had to purchase lookalike a on the way out! Well worth a visit.
So good family enjoyed it. Worth going to. Reasonable prices as well. Dog show was great as well as my kids playing with the dog and hiding the drugs.
We learned a lot about the effort and dedication in caring for these amazing animals. Kids had a wonderful time before the show began spending some time with the farm animals, a rare privilege for us city slickers. Worth a visit, this will add some real variety to your Granite Belt itinerary.
We didn't know what to expect with Law dogs and were pleasantly surprised. Don't expect anything fancy, this is literally a demonstration in a shed on plastic chairs but worth the visit! It was only $15 for adults and $5 for kids for a show that last just over an hour. This is not a cute cuddly dog show, it's a real look at the training of guard dogs - something that I have never seen anywhere else and was really interesting. The best bit is that it is something that both adults and kids can enjoy. Make sure you rug up, we were there at 11am and it was so cold I couldn't feel my legs! (I am from Brisbane so the cold is not my thing, but even the locals were feeling the chill in the shed!). Staff were amazing!
What a lovely group of people! They genuinely care for their pooches and provide a very informative demonstration in the surrounds of a purpose-built area. Well done to these guys for having the courage to embark (no pun intended) on such a major venture with such noble goals. The dogs are clearly treated as royalty and thoroughly enjoy what they do. The presenters are super-friendly, very professional and welcome all questions all within the confines of a safe and clean environment. It caters to all ages. The elderly were every bit as delighted as the kids and for us Big Kids, the tickles with the puppy at the end is a brilliant finish.Well done guys. You deserve our highest praise.
My husband and I recently visited this unique attraction and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Would recommend this experience to everyone - location was easy to find, plenty of parking including disabled access and amenity. The owner/handler/trainer is so passionate about what he does ... his dogs are only treated with patience, love, kindness, dignity and respect (plus a little fun too) and this comes across throughout his entire presentation. It was fantastic to get an informative insight into the nature and extent of training these dogs go through from puppies to professional working adults. All the dogs were gorgeous but Koda and the little pup get a special mention. We loved our Law Dog encounter and will tell plenty.
what an amazing experience, I didn't quite know what to expect but the dogs were brilliant. The trainer has them so well trained and he explained everything so well, including what not to do when training dogs. The trainer spent time with us after the show to answer our many questions and was just so proffesioal. The detection dog was just like on the tv show 'send in the dogs' I still don't know how they do it. Such a small price to pay for a very entertaining and informative show. Congratulations
