This has so much potential as a viable tourist attraction and appears to be run by volunteers BUT really lacks anything for children. Ours were bored senseless whilst we like the history aspect. Council should be ashamed that they aren't making it more viable for all. Congrats to the volunteers who possible keep this important history going. Needs train rides, play ground, interactive etc etc
This is a lovely shady place to spend a few hours with family/friends. Very interesting to see how Griffith began
This was one of the best and most authentic snapshots of Australian pioneer life I've ever seen. The museum park houses a large number of original, relocated eighteenth and nineteenth century buildings. There's homes, general stores, farms buildings, a post office, hospital, dentist's, railway station, lockups and even a dunny. Inside each are original fixtures, fittings and personal items. It is a wonderful collection and must have taken huge time and effort to get here. There's also massive collection of nineteenth century farm and vineyard machinery. On site are two modern buildings dedicated to the area's Italian heritage and to the place that grapes have played in the region. It's laid out over a large area and I'd say it's excellent for all ages. The people who've put it all together over decades deserve huge praise.Forget the shortage of reviews here this is an absolute gem. It deserves at least two to three hours of your time. Adult entry was ten dollars with usual discounts available.
A great insight into the history and development of Griffith, from its Bagtown days. Best to visit on open days (like Australia day) when the machinery is in operation.
We drove up the hill to Pioneer Park and found the scenic reserve very run down and dirty. We stayed in the car!
