Found on Green Cape road, the simple lookout provides a spectacular view of Disaster Bay & Womboyn Lake. Only a 20 metre walk from the car park which is located right on the road. National Park fees apply ($7 per day) which gets you access to the Green Cape Lighthouse, Ben Boyd Tower and beaches.
Great vistas of the coastline from this lookout. Dirt road to get there with a 40 KPH limit (for a good reason, it's in a National Park).
We stopped at Disaster Bay Lookout while we were in down in Eden, on our way out to the Green Cape Lighthouse. The wind was so very cold so we didn't stay long at The Disaster Bay Lookout. On a warmer day the Views would be worth time to stay there and appreciate the lookout. Its a place that I would love to return to another time if we are ever down that way.
A beautiful beach but I still couldn't understand why they named it disaster. But it is very very pretty beach
This is a good place to look for whales as you get a great view of the bay. Parking is free and it is a short walk from the parking lot.
It is so beautiful that you have to see to believe that such place exists on earth. The coast line is untouched and the water is crystal blue and the air is so fresh that I can't help to think this is what heaven should be like.
We decided to stop at the lookout on the way to the lighthouse, it was a nice break from the bumpy road getting down there. There is a board with the history of the bay and how it got its name and then you walk down to the lookout for an amazing view.
Brilliant place to visit.Easy access plenty of parking and when you get there take your camera as there are heaps of GREAT pics to take
Just a short walk from the car park to look out over the whole bay. The signs show everything from weeds that grow along Australia's shore line to information about the whale industry in Eden
Well worth the drive out to lookout and lighthouse.Great to go to a attraction without being over run with crowds.Visit Pulpit Rock when out that way.
We liked the spectacular views, well worth the trip along the gravel road to get there, don't forget your camera!
This place is around 22 KM from the pacific highway, and you can drive up to the place. (no need for walking/hiking to destination). If you drive past the disaster bay lookout for another few kilometers, you will end up in a lighthouse which have stunning views. Lookout for the wombats around the place as well :)
Loved it but the drive was never ending and the road disgusting, it is worse now than it was 30 years ago when last I used that road. It was worth the drive as the view of disaster bay is magnificent and I certainly would go again, take a gourme picnic lunch and a nice flask of coffee and my sketch book or easel
The look out had the best view along the walk path. You can hear the wave hitting the rock just under your each food steps. The sunset was so beautiful when you stand on the decks of the look out. This is a great location for the local and the visitors to relax and picnic.
Der STRAND ist echt toll und lohnt für einen Zwischenstopp! Wer die Küste hoch oder runter fährt sollte hier in Eden anhalten und einen Tag verweilen.
