We went here for a birthday party for a friend, and had a great time. I haven't heard of anything quite like it in the lower mainland, it was a unique and entertaining evening, and we will definitely be returning. I really like that this is a small local production, not part of a big chain. It is relaxed, and very entertaining. You can wear jeans or dress up, and either way it's ok, its comfortable either way. We paid for our tickets in advance by credit card. When we arrived they showed us to our group. Appetizers were brought to our table and the entertainment started. They do a bit of a floor show with audience participation, with breaks here and there when they are taking food orders etc. There is also some live music that is quite good. Some things to be aware of:- it is definitely not politically correct- the show is somewhat unscripted as it depends upon audience participation- food is ok but not great, and at least is plentiful- drinks are standard pub prices- you won't be bored, and will be kept entertained for over 3 straight hours. These folks seem to work very hard to make sure everyone has a great time, and you can feel that extra touch in how the evening goes. I definitely felt it was worth the price and our time to go.
This place has been here for years, so they must be doing something right! Food is good, show is great... probably not something you'd want to do for a regular night out, but great fun in a group once a year or so. Shows change regularly, but oddly enough, Elvis and Rod Stewart always seem to make an appearance :)
Food - ReasonableEntertainment - Very GoodDrinks - ReasonableOverall - Good night out best suited for groups of friends, you will laugh a lot
Have been here several times and am never disappointed. You will L.Y.A.O. all night long. Great value for your dollar.
Be to the Giggle Dam several times and was never disappointed. The entertainment is great and many laughs to be had. I would recommend this dinner theatre to everyone. I was asked to pick a date for the time I was there but that choice wasn't available to me so I just picked one that was available. When asking this question you should leave a space so people can put in a real date of their visit. I was sorry to read that wilkie24 was not impressed but if he/she was in a hurry they should have gone somewhere else as this is a dinner theatre not your average restaurant. I have never waited 2 hours as we ate, spoke to the entertainers and also participated in some of the entertainment.
Fairly good food, not fantastic. Earthy humor in the entertainment department. Sometimes sexist, and frequent sexual innuendo.
Ok, so here's the scoop. Having worked in both restaurants and musical theatre production I was slightly reluctant see how the combination of the two married together in the bustling city of Coquitlam (port Coquitlam? ). Lets just say that i was duly impressed by both the performances and the food at my Dad's 80th birthday get together recently. The venue is in a former theatre that (while not glammed up for the downtown crowd) I cast an envious glance around noting that it was the perfect place for this kind of raucous and fun theatre. No pretentions here as the cast does greet patrons with some fun shticky repartee while you are getting drinks and chatting preshow. Its at this time the performers are gathering info on whos celebrating what with whom and where everyone is from. This is just a super nice way to include the audience in what ends up being a friendly participatory night. Not to worry for those shy types as the staff is very good at knowing who can be played with and who just likes to view from afar.....they've been doing this a while....they get it. Our group was very enthused by the witty timing of all the performers and we loved the shows medieval theme they were putting on fod the first half. The second half was a more modern take with a surprisingly great Rod Stewart impression and some really great singing...and or course the Ode to Elvis always pleases. Listen...I know that this aint a broadway show but it was much better than what I've seen downtown at the Arts Club (no offence arts club....luv ya) and while it sounds like im gaga for giggle...im actually a hard sell. This was fun!!! The food....delish. Really well prepared that night. If you're thinking about doing a group outting and looking for some ribald and fun entertainment. ...look no further. This place is da bomb!
I was disappointed...perhaps I was expecting more because I had heard how amazing this place was? We arrived at 630pm - sat at a very "cozy" table for 20 - and there we sat...for over 2 hours until FINALLY the performance started. I felt captive - so much sitting and waiting - Why can't we eat WHILE we watch the show?Dinner was okay - our server was good, considering how busy he looked - and the performance, well, the music was good.
Planned the evening for my husbands 50th bday. He was totally surprised! They greeted us by name, and ensured he was having the best time. The food was stellar as was the very attentive service. The show, music and audience dancing was all more than expected. We will be back!
I have been to the dinner theatre many times. Each and every time I go I am always amazed at not only the energy they have while performing, but the absolutely wonderful food they prepare and serve. The shows change every three months so there is always something new to see.
Alway a good time can be had @ the DAM. Whatever show is playing staff ensures all have a great time, unless of course you're a stuffy old codger then they'll roast you like a christmas goose and speaking of food the food's pretty DAM good too! If you haven't done a DAM christmas yet, hurry down and get stuffed DAM style. And don't forget that sprigg of parsley..cuz it's cheap
Hahaha! Thanks for your awesome review, Karo! We are definitely in a business where we are subject to opinion and we're super glad yours is different than CoffeeChik's. I'm so touched that you went looking for a copy of our version of Crazy. I wish I was going to be there on December 11th, but I'm not actually IN the Christmas show. I'm sure you and your group will love the band set, though, it's excellent! I'll be back in January for our Medieval Show, and we have some great songs in that band set as well. I hope your son has a fantastic birthday and I'll make sure he gets some extra love from the rest of the cast :)Sincerely,Sheila SharmaOwner
I went with a small group of six people. It was so much fun! The food was good/ better than expected as the feature is the entertainment and comedy! The beaver dip (appetizer) was so tasty - I came home and tried to google the recipe (no luck) Keep in mind that if it's your birthday or anniversary (special occasion) - there is a good chance that you will be picked on and brought up on stage wearing a silly costume!! I would go back again, definitely!
Always a great time. :) You're not there to have a gourmet dinner, and you might laugh so hard you might pee yourself! Not a good place for the easily offended and as they say, the last politically uncorrected place on earth. So, let your hair down, take off that tie, have a drink And enjoy the show!
I've been several times and am never disappointed! Great food! Excellent entertainment! But the drinks are a bit pricey. I highly recommend going!!!!
