If you are going to NL you must go to Cape Spear. The view is absolutely breath taking. I felt so privileged to be here and see the amazingly beautiful views. We found it so very relaxing and took lots of great pictures. It certainly reminded me that Canada has so much to offer and see.
Beautiful place to visit. Amazing for photographs. Historic site is interesting! I am so happy to have visited with my fantastic tour guides!
Just minutes from down town and a beautiful drive is Cape Spear. It has great views and on a good day more whales then you can count. I've seen everything from Humpbacks and Blue Whales to Killer Whales and Dauphins. Well worth the admission price, free.
The best time to visit is during the summer months. There is lots of walking to see everything. The lighthouse is located on a high cape overlooking the ocean. The view is awesome. Many walking trails and there is some bunkers to see ,which were used during the war. Depending on the time of year, wild blueberries grow free.
If you want a wondeful view of the ocean, this is the spot. The very farthest point east you can go in North America. Next stop would be the ocean. Very cool to see, a must if in Newfoundland. Be aware lots of walking to get around here.
Loved the view and the history. The guides are very friendly and helpful. Be sure to bring your walking shoes and camera. We saw lots of sea birds diving into the ocean as well.
Wondeful place to visit particularly in the summer months. Excellent walking trails and tons of history. Humback, minke and Pothead whales can be seen from shore.
HAVE to see Cape Spear, amazing views and history. Great parking. Not sure if lunch was available as it was late Sept.
Took some great photos here. Love the rock formations and that very photogenic lighthouse. Quite busy so best to get there early in the day if you want to take some nice photos of the lighthouse and rocks without people all over your shot.
Awesome views! Good trails and beautiful lighthouses! Icebergs are a common sight the spring of the year, some years are better then others.
We were visiting St John's and the weather was cold with some snow, this is what we came for. Due to the time of the year for our visit most things were closed. It was still very informative and well worth seeing. We plan to visit again in the summer months to see what the difference is.
Great view of the Atlantic Ocean in top of cliff; there are bunker and cannon from the War period, but location seems not to be taken care by authorities; lighthouse in a conserved wooden building, but nothing extraordinary.
We went on a Sunday as during the summer, you can have supper in the lighthouse on Sunday only. You have to call and book a spot as it only holds 24 people. Major restautants host the dinner. Well worth it.
From first view from across the bay I was taken. Visited on a very cold clear blue day and walked around the site. Beautiful photos added to the excitement of being at the Easternmost point of North America. Must go see this!
This is a great tourist stop. So nice for a westerner to have a picture of themselves at the most easterly point in Canada. We were on a bus tour, and we were told that the lighthouse was not open, and that we did not have time to walk up there. However, just being able to walk out and see the shoreline, and have your picture taken with the sign was great.
