amherst point bird sanctuary

My husband and I were looking for an outdoor adventure and we thought we would check out the bird sanctuary even though we really know nothing about it, what a great surprise!! We ended up going for a beautiful walk around the lake, the trails were well maintained and we saw lots of squirrels! The hike behind the lake is a little hilly and the terrain uneven, so be a little cautious if heading back that far. The snow on all of the trees was gorgeous and the lake was frozen over. Our visit made for a great afternoon :)

Upgraded some paths/walking bridges 2014. Short gravel easy path with lovely views and ponds/lakes. Longest path is about 45 min trail. Loads of chickadees. Occasional osprey. Is a sanctuary for migratory birds not necessarily a lot of birds at any one time. Pet peeve: no garbage cans.

Nice trail that took us through a well groomed and marked path that followed the shoreline of a lake. Seen some ducks, geese and various small birds. Went back a 2nd day and did a different route through a wooded area and some small lakes.
