My husband and I eloped and chose the Kawartha Golf and country club as our reception venue. We had some problems with the staff, especially the event coordinator, Mary Beth. She lost the information for our DJ several times. Other details were also finalized several times, as our information kept getting misplaced. We were told we could decorate the room any time the day before. We were then kicked out at 5 pm as "anytime" apparently means between 9&5. We were told by Mary Beth that she had been so accommodating and that we should have been charged to rent the room to decorate the day before. The night of the reception we ordered several trays of a variety of items. All the food was put out at the start of the night to sit out all night. I expected smaller trays that could be replenished throughout the night. We left our gifts at the end of the night and were told me could pick them up tomorrow. The next morning we returned to find that the doors had been unlocked all night, the staff had forgot to lock up. When our cake provider went to retrieve her stands, she also found the doors to the facility unlocked with no staff to be found. The general manager is arrogant and doesn't even have the decency to acknowledge people. The event coordinator told us he had no reason to interact with us. Not exactly customer service. I would not recommend this venue, they certainly don't go out of there way to help.
I am not a golfer but this is the second year in a row that I have attended their December Christmas buffet luncheon and it was superb. There were about 40 people in our party and everyone agreed that it was absolutely marvelous. They served roast turkey with all the trimmings as well as the most delicious prime rib roast beef which was cooked to perfection. The soup was amazing and there was a great variety on the salad bar There was also a large dessert station with so many marvelous goodies to choose from. The service was very prompt and friendly. A must for anyone looking for an excellent Christmas buffet.
Just played this course for 4 straight days and the conditions are perfect. this is a Stanley Thompson designed course and has the toughest collection of par 3's you will ever play. the pro shop staff are great to deal. This is a gem of a course. You will not be disappointed.
With adequate attention from accomplished golf writers and reviewers, Kawartha Golf and Country Club would be a perennial Top 100 course in Canada. Maturity and pristine conditions make it a must play for both the professional and weekend warrior. An all-time favourite.
Not a golfer but attended a special function in the dining room and the food was excellent. They served about 120 of us in very short order and every meal served was hot, well presented and very tasty. This is not easy to do and one of our party was a professional chef and very particular. Even he was impressed. Yes, the decor could be updated but if you want excellent food, fast and efficient service for a large group, this is the place to go. We were impressed.
One of the oldest Semi-private golf courses in the area is lined with majestic trees that overhang some fairways and give you an added challenge on many shots. You will enjoy your round here if you keep it in the fairways. The greens are typical Stanley Thompson design, quite large with significant tilting that makes them difficult to putt if you are above the hole.
We had our casual wedding reception at KG&C and did we ever luck in especially as our first venue (no longer in business) was trying to really gouge us. Wayne sat down with us and so our tapis were exactly as we wanted. Everybody went away satisfied and impressed
This review is for the clubhouse and banquet facilities - I don't golf. The food is always good and the service is good, however the clubhouse is dated and needs work, I always find it cold.
This is by far the best course to play if you are visiting Peterborough. The fairways are lush and the greens are fast and true. Pro staff were very friendly. The newer built "Stanley's Pub" is wonderfully decorated and has a warm ambience. The food is typical pub fare but the breaded wings are perfect. Also try the spring rolls which are homemade and delicious. The "Dublin dip" is juicy! There this a special menu each week that features homemade dishes.
It was the worst experience...we arrived for our reservation and were seated in the dining area the place seemed to be clearing out...My daughter noticed that her water glass had lipstick all over the edge and my knife had hardened gravy on the tip... the waitress asked if we would like drinks, everyone asked for water and my mom asked for coffee a little later. We went to the buffet and had our first course and then got up for seconds the plates were not removed and we just stacked them ourselves in the middle of the table...as the meal progressed the room was clearing out and the waitresses seemed to be making up the tables at the other end of the dining area. One of the girls came in with a plate of food and yelled yes I said yelled to another girl "hey ___ are you going to join me"...we were totally ignored and my mother even got up from the table and went down to where the waitresses were to ask if she could get some coffee. They complied with the bottom of the pot expresso style syrup...we got up to leave and no one was around to even speak to about the experience... Maybe our mistake was paying for the meal before we were finished...it was a horrible experience and on Mothers day 3 of the 6 at our table were mothers...so not worth the $29.95 we could have gone to the golden arches and been treated better sooo disappointed won't be returning..I actually took pitures of our table full of plates but I can't get it to upload from my phone sorry
