I play golf for fun but I also like a challenge. Oakridge offers a great experience. As a high handicapper I can manage the challenging holes. The starters are great, pro shop and restaurant staff offer great service. As a public course, it feels more personal like a private experience.
They should for a private feel at a public course, and they are close enough. The course is not long, but enough of a challenge for single digit handicappers. No strikingly memorable holes, but consistent design quality. Maintenance has always been up to par (sorry).Halfway house better than OK, with sandwiches, sausages and dogs. The staff is outstanding - I've had several excellent experiences there over many years. The pub is nice afterward. And the price is low for the quality - probably the best value within reasonable driving distance from Toronto.
Best course conditions and best amenities we've known. From srarter, Steve, with his guidance to Courtney's meal service it was all good. If only our home course in Tennessee was this nice. Walkable course challenging opportunities where accurate direction is needed for all shots.
I play this year in a Monday night mens league and its a fantastic time, guys are great but its the folks at the course that make it a great experience, they have on course challenges each week that any player can win, the meet and greet is excellent, Joe says HI to you and I didn't even know he knew my name... Proshop staff and the on course pros are great guys and also get out and play with the guys giving pointers to those whom inquire,,, All in all just a great evening of golf, food beverage. The guys always look fwd to Monday nights at Oakridge..
I find the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. The course is not overly long but tough enough given its up and down over varied terrain. The 3rd hole with a downhill tee shot to a small, well-bunkered landing area and an approach shot partially over water is one of the toughest to par in Durham Region. One of my favourites is the 16th, a par three over a huge sandtrap to a large green that offers many varied pin placements. The18th finishing hole is one of the toughest driving holes you will find and it can play extremely tough if the wind is blowing. The very shallow green behind the pond offers some interesting pin placements. It's always a pleasure to play Oakridge.
