The address for this is a bit deceptive. The route travels through the whole Niagara Region and has many parking spots to leave your vehicle why you adventure out. This path has minimal interaction with vehicles and usually you are along waterways, through woods or other interesting little bridges and attractions. Along the Canal, Lake Erie, Niagara River and Lake Ontario. A nice route is from Niagara Falls to Niagara-On-The-Lake and back. Ride from the Falls to Fort Erie and back is also nice. Some people plan to start in the Allanburg area, ride for 7 hours to the falls, then stay in a motel or campground and finish the rest of the route the next day. Bring a camera and a swim suit. Many places to stop along the way to eat or refresh. This one is free and hard to beat. Check their website for the route and other information.
My wife and I completed the Circle Route taking three days. This permitted us to enjoy the scenery, sample the local eateries and generally have a good time as we took in the various sights at each stage of the trip. From the beautiful homes along the Niagara River to the Falls to the quaintness of Port Colborne and the old town shops of NIagara-on-the-Lake each moment had its delights. Thank you to the Region for providing this opportunity to so many. We will do this again, perhaps even slower the next time.
Had fun riding this entire circle route. The Welland portion could use much better signage when reaching intersections as to where to continue on ... but we made it through. Friendship trail is can be a bit boring as completely flat and not along the water. The Niagara River portion is cool ... especially when getting nearer the falls, but some portions of the trail is on the road, some are sidewalks, and some are private driveways .... but lots of interesting things to see!
