We are a large Norwegian family with 6 children (3, 5, 12, 14, 18 (not a child)) - very experienced travelers - most of us- two of us speak spanish and we've been to Cuba several times before. We decided to booked a nearly 2 weeks trip with car, driver and guiding - with Trinidad travels, run by Reinier. The car had good quality and the driver drove so carefully and were incredibly nice and charming - as well as Reinier and another colleague. The trip around Cuba and especially in Trinidad - was a very relaxing, interesting and fun experience and Reinier managed to organize the most wonderful day trips that everybody enjoyed. Cuban nature is something special. And he showed us national parks, flora and fauna and also historic information. He and his family also took my eldest daughter (18) out dancing and having dinner - sharing music and laughter. They even organized to buy a cuban guitar (Tres) for her. If you are interested in arts - Reinier will give you a guided tour for that also. Our experience was that Reinier and his company did a lot more than one could expect. We found Trinidad travels very well organized, safe and a company that in a miraculous way managed to see that everybody was happy during the trip - every day. (It is not possible, but they did it). The contact by mail was efficient with good suggestions according to our wishes and needs. We paid in advance - that was also a very good experience. We highly recommend Trinidad Travels
We wanted to explore the sugar plantations in Trinidad and had come across Reinier on Trip Advisor. However, my wife was not keen to ride a horse, so we thought we were condemned to do a tour in a bus. My went to the Trinidad Travels office and Reinier offered a trip in a horse and cart for 25 CUCs per person, slightly less than the bus price, and so much more fun.Reinier is a really nice guy with good English. I would thoroughly recommend him.
My daughter and I LOVED Trinidad! It sounds very cheesy but we cried when we left. Although it is quiet touristy (Unesco Heritage), it offers everything you look for when visiting Cuba. The people are so super friendly and joyful although they have nothing. The colonial houses are amazingly beautiful and the poorer surroundings are lovely and picturesque. Playa Ancon, located 20minutes by car and easy to find, is very nice! If you look for peace just go all the way on the right (we were alone) and if you want the touristic comforts go next to the hotel on the left (when we were there it was not crowded at all). If you go next to the church you might find Oscar, who sells bananas (super tasty!). He is an incredible, very sweet and fun elderly man (we booked him as a guide an he was fantastic!). Should you see him say hello from Carolina and Anaïs (my daughter). If you look for a casa particular, there are plenty and most looked amazing (just park at the parqueo oficial en centro historico for 2 Cuc and walk around. We stayed at hostal Anaïs y Cayuco (refer to my review). It is absolutely worth to stay in Trinidad for 2-4 days, if not longer..
Dear Jennifer:I am very impressed with your opinion about us due the unjust way how are expressing about our services. It is true that in May we exchanged some emails in which you were asking prices and suggested itineraries that we could offer. In any of our emails or previous communications you confirmed or reserved any of our services. It is very unfair from you be expressed this way.In your last email you contact me wondering once again on prices and proposals and I kindly communicated you that I was in Italy which I think is not any problem. I even told you that if you needed some help could count on me for whatever you needed; we would be willing to help you.You had never booked any services we offer so I don’t think you have the right to claim, much less say that in that unfairly way. If you take 5 minutes to read the opinions of other customers may realize that we are not like you think. To conclude my answer would like to ask you something, to serve as a reflection for you and anyone reading your opinion. Is it possible to reach an airport to take a plane from Europe to Cuba without a reserved ticket? We cannot ensure any service without a formal reservation and the respective confirmation. We are because you feel that way but we think it an unfair and inadequate opinionBest RegardsReinier Toscano
Dear Sir:We are sorry that you disappointed a company of which you never went customer and a service you never received. Arriving at our headquarters you will be explained that I was in Italy, is that a problem? All human have the right to take vacations and travel wherever they want. You know how many offices are closed every day because someone is taking a vacation? My father voluntarily contacts a colleague in order to help you. He not has any commitment to do it because the agency was closed but for courtesy he tries to help you. You appreciate it critiquing negatively and unfairly. All the times you were informed about the truth, the agency was closed because I was in Italy. We do not understand what the problem is. You could contact another agency and receive their services. Why review negatively about us?CordiallyReinier Toscano
This is now the oldest city in Cuba lots of museums cobble stone roads and amazing buildings with the old cars to admire as a bonus
Thanks so much to Reinier who drove us in the countryside of Trinidad through refreshing forests, plantations and campesinos, in way to look and understand their lifestlye.
Trinidad Travels' Reinier made our trip to Cuba completely unforgettable! Reinier, was able to show us this region's natural beauty unlike any other tour group out there. All our wishes were taken into consideration and a tailor planned trip was created for us, which absolutely exceeded all of our expectations. Another highlight was simply getting to meet him and his family and experiencing genuine cuban hospitality. Can't wait for my next trip to Cuba and more adventures with Trinidad Travels!
This little city is surrounded by beautiful and ancient architecture. The buildings tell you a story . It's celebrating 500 years old this year! The streets are busy with crafts and traditional Cuban live music. La Casa De La Trova, a must visit!!
We loved our horse riding day. We got more than what we expected. We have been to afew other countries since and nothing seems as good!
We booked with Reinier because we wanted the flexibility of deciding what time we would leave for our trip and also to avoid being part of a large group. Felt like one of three best decisions we made all trip! Reinier listened to what my friend and I wanted to do and then offered to make an early start. It was a wonderful trek taking in waterfalls and swimming in a pool beneath one of them. He was professional, friendly and dedicated to making sure we got the most from the day. The perfect host for this part of the world he knows so well. He pointed out wildlife we would never have seen and after the trek to an incredible family-run eco-friendly place for a delicious lunch. His English is perfect and we loved the opportunity for some great conversation too. Thank you Reinier!
My wife and I joined one of Reinier's horse treks and thoroughly enjoyed it. He is a great guy, very knowledgeable about the local area and led the group with charm and energy. I've not ridden in years but the horses were calm and friendly. We made stops at a small farm to sample sugar cane juice, then the waterfalls for swimming (and diving!) followed by coffee and a cigar. We really enjoyed talking to Reinier about his life and about Cuba. One of the best days of our trip!
Trinidad is an essential stop in any tour of Cuba. However be careful of scams by local young men as friends staying with us their were conned. If you are renting a car and you have a problem, phone the hire company as first priority. If you need roadside help, try and find an official. Be careful of young men who 'just happen to be passing' and offering help as they are most likely looking to make a lot of money from you, not through robbery of any sort, just by doing some repair and then charging you through the roof. Cuban people are generally very nice and helpful but in the tourist spots like Trinidad and Havana, many young men look to prey on unsuspecting tourists like this.
We booked a horse riding trip to a waterfall with Trinidad Travels after reading all of the excellent reviews. We were not disappointed...the trip which was fantastic, you could swim through the waterfall to see a batcave & we had lunch in a lovely location. On the way out, farmers had changed their fencing which blocked our route but Reinier found an alternative way through a river which added to the fun. He is a fantastic, knowledgeable and funny guide...we enjoyed our day with him & the horses very much.
My girlfriend and I decided to get away from the cold in Aarhus, Denmark and travel to Cuba for spring break 2014. She did all the planning, which included horseback riding in Trinidad, because she grew up riding horses competitively and thought it would be the best way to discover the Cuban countryside. Unlike her, I had no experience on horseback so I was a bit nervous. Bottom line: it was the best decision of the entire Cuban experience. We booked Reinier in the first place because he had the highest ratings online, but the man is above and beyond that. He is a very laid back, patient, and helpful guide that shows you the Cuban countryside the way it is supposed to be experienced. Our adventure was more than just horseback riding: we also swam in a natural pool, saw some Tocororos (the national bird of Cuba), ate on a rural farm, and... talked, a lot. Generally, speaking Spanish is an advantage in Cuba, but to the relief of my non-Spanish speaking girlfriend, Reinier speaks English fluently, so you can fully understand all the interesting things he talks about. He wears his heart on his sleeve as he is an extremely passionate guy who loves sharing his country's beauty, and not taking advantage of talking to him (especially considering his English skills) would be such a waste!! I cannot stress how amazing this experience was for us, and that there is a reason Reinier is the number one attraction in Trinidad, the legend is real :)
