we purchased a small painting of a red chicken painted on egg shells and hung it in our dinning room it is loved by all who see it. I hope to return and buy another painting , her art work is just so wonderful oh ya and she is a great person with much good character. a real gem.
This was one of our scheduled stops in Cuba. Why? Because, as picture gallery owners, we wished to catch up with the artistic world of Cuba. Here in Galeria Colonial, we found wonderful things.... vibrant pictures, full of colour and folklore.Yudit is a professional artist with much experience and Cuban acclaim. Her pictures reflect the best of Cuba. And her enthusiasm is just as colourful. We wish her well.
We walked past this place as we were staying at Casa Cofradia next door. There are many galleries in Trinidad and this is one of the best ones. She has worked with children with disabilities to create unique and interesting art work, alongside her continually developing styles. Really approachable and pleasant, worth a visit!
I visited Cuba/Trinidad last Spring 2013 and was fortunate for the referral to visit Yudit's art gallery. Not only is she an amazing artist, but a very warm and charming person, which definitely transcends through her work.If you plan on visiting Trinidad (which is a beautiful town, full of history) you must make a point of visiting Yudit's gallery.I bought a gorgeous painting and she arranged to have it shipped to me in USA. This painting now hangs with pride in our living room. Thanks again Yudit,N. Wendt
This is where I go around noon in Trinidad to keep track of Yudith's artwork and also to get the cultural pulse in town( From new artists, to famous visitors and even private jam sessions). She's always very kind and talkative, giving me the insights of her paintings and future exhibitions. Her English is above average and sometimes she pre-arranged workshops in advance. This is like a real "Cultural Center" with local flavor.
If you find yourself in Trinidad, Cuba, make sure you visit this gallery. The work is wonderful and the artist, Yudit is equally as wonderful!
Yudit is constantly creating or finding ways to put innto matter what germinates in her illuminated mind. Visiting her last March was a lovely experience.
I have visited Trinidad, and was mesmerized by Yudit Vidal's paintings. This is one artist you should meet, Not only does she work wonders with the easel and the brush, but she is also a warm, welcoming and fun personality. To think of Yudit and her art is to be lifted up to high heavens and admire the beauty and charm of Trinidad. I truly love Yudit's art, in fact - I have samples of her work at home (and they are the envy of my friends).
Inside the beautiful city of Trinidad is an artist gallery that should not be missed. You will be greeted by a warm and inviting Yudit who is more than happy to discuss her many pieces of art. She is a very talented lady and it is unfortunate that it is so difficult for most of America to see her work. If ever in Trinidad, please make a point to visit this gallery.
Trinidad, one of the best conserved colonial cities in Cuba, has many attractions but, for anyone interested in art, Yudit Vidal`s gallery is a MUST. Located in the center of the old city, it is easy to find. There you will be greeted by a charming and articulate young artist whose work has already been recognized during exhibitions held in New York and several European capitals. Yudit, who speaks good English, will be happy to guide you through her evolution as an artist and gladly explain her techniques and themes of choice. The universe she creates is a magic explosion of colours and forms. One delightful series of paintings which particularly attracted my attention is one dedicated to children who often feature as bearers of human values. You will come away enchanted.
We visited Yudit's gallery expecting a quick stop and on to the next. But we discovered a fascinating artist, who spent a long time explaining the imagery used in her art. We began to understand more about Cuban history, culture and art, and why Cuban's love their island despite the hardships they face. Every piece of Yudit's art has a whole story to tell, and coming from Canada, I sometimes misread the meaning. Yudit patiently explained her meaning behind the painting. I love her artwork which I chose for my home and for my two grand daughters. Visiting Yudit and her gallery were the best part of Trinidad for me!
I was drawn into Yudit's gallery by the splendid femininity of her work. I ended up spending the better part of an hour taking in the progression of her artwork throughout the years and having such lovely discourse with her and and her sweet lively enthusiastic friend. Was a treat to have found such a gorgeous example of authentic Cuban Trinitarian art mixed with the warm hospitality of its artist!
I had the pleasure of randomly walking into Yudits gallery a sunny afternoon. We ended up conversing for a long time about art, cuba, and life in general as I tried to take in everyone of her pictures while enjoying her company. Even though she has very different techniques to draw upon when she paints, she has perfected her art in such a way, that you can always tell and say "thats a Yudit Vidal" in the same way you can always tell if its a John Mayer or Hendrix solo. She also taught me, a poor student, a trick or two about Cuba, and I spend almost all of my pocket money for that week on two pictures she made. I treasure them still and when i come back to cuba i will go visit trinidad to stand in her beautiful gallery, converse and enjoy her colors on canvas.
Yudit is an impassioned artist who always has a moment to talk. When I first visited her gallery we had a very casual visit. She was painting the edge of a painting white as it had gotten dirty. As she painted we talked. Since her English is very good she answered many questions I had about Trinidad and Cuba. She had a painting I liked and I couldn't stop thinking about so I went back and we talked some more. Then I bought it. And since then, when travelling home with it all rolled up, every time I looked at it I felt good. I have only arrived home recently but I cannot wait to hang it up. A real oil painting. The Conversation. Two woman talking about what's on their mind: food. Yudit and I talked about what was on our mind and I think of her whenever I look at the painting. Once I've mounted it I'll post a photo. If you are travelling in Cuba and in Trinidad, pay her a visit. Her art comes from her heart.
Besides being the daughter of friends, yudith vidal alwas captured my attention because of her sensibility and skills for drawing. When she became a teenager there was no doubt that she would become a painter or an artist. Nowadays she has shown the community and the world that she was right when she selected her profession/passion. She has been more than successful within and out of Cuba. Her works are passionate, her ghosts are vivid, Her particular view of the old city of Trinidad. (Cuba) is very personal. Her space is full opf good art. God bless her hands!!!
