This was my first time playing this golf course, and it's safe to say I was underwhelmed. I had read mixed reviews the last few years, some of which mentioned specific or general renovations. When we paid and checked in with the starter, we were told that a few areas were still being renovated (we played the North 9 and the East 9). The starter was very good, by the way. We had a few foursomes, and he had our carts set aside, and he was very friendly as he got us organized. That may have been my only highlight of the day. The general layout was probably very nice when it was designed and built. But it seems like the course has been neglected for years. The greens were generally fast, but most of them had a zillion unrepaired ball marks and some patches and rough spots, as did many of the fairways and tee boxes. They are apparently transplanting Bermuda grass on some of the course, which possibly explains why some fairways and tee boxes hadn't been mowed in quite some time. And one or two holes had ground under repair and/or ongoing excavation work during the round. My golf cart had some years on it, and I struggled for all 18 holes to get it started each time I moved it, pumping the pedal and pulling the choke to get it going each time. And almost all of the bunkers were dreadful, with mud or hardpan and tons of rocks. It's a very challenging golf course, and some of the layout is nice, but I'm guessing it was much nicer years ago.

I've played Compass Pointe 4 times. Each time it has been in good shape. It is a tight course with woods or high grass. So if your wide you can go though some balls. Staff is friendly and service is good. We've stayed afterwards in the bar area and prices are good. They had two for one beers last time. Lunch in the bar was good also. But that could have been the 2 4 1.

It's hardly fair to judge the quality of a golf course in the winter, so take this with a grain of salt. Having played Compass Pointe many times, tho, I can say that the design exceeds the maintenance by a goodly bit. Traps rarely have sufficient sand (if any). But for the price (which is cheap), it's probably reasonable.

Four nine hole courses. When I played here you could play different combinations of the four. Difficult rough and landing areas. Very pleasing to the eye. Have to ride a cart. Moderately priced.

good news .. i got a tee time sat night online for 8;40 am sunday, $55 was discounted. they aerated early, grass range (extra for balls), started on time. bad news.. pace of play on front was very slow, did finish in 4.5 hrs. all green side bunkers had water in center. greens on north were better than south, lots of crab grass.

I have played here several times over the years but the course maintenance is not what is should be. The sand traps have deep ruts and standing water and it doesn't look like new sand has been added in years. The day we played there was standing water on the fairways and they still let us drive the carts on the fairways. Greens not is best shape either. Looks like the county is skipping on maintenance, but there sure were many employees running around the clubhouse.

I did not know what to expect since this is my first time playing the course. The course is a destination since it is not on but near major interstate highway. I chose to play North East Course instead of South West Course (no reason). Course was in good shape considering we are in a drought. Fairways and greens ranged from good to very good. I did not experience the fairway divots issue from other reviewers, but a couple of greens were recovering and had tire tracks. However, all fairways and greens were playable with a few blind shots. The course scorecard is wonderful; it contained more details than the purchased yardage book level. The day that I played there was only 1 beverage cart for 36 holes.

I read Ravenboy's review before playing here and have to be honest - I thought "what a whiner". But after playing I have to say Ravenboy was spot on. The course is beautiful but the fairways are a mess. I actually replaced divots that were obviously made that same day, that no one had repaired. It is (or could be) a beautiful course and isn't bad for the price - even fairly challenging. It could have gotten much better reviews from me if the fairways were cared for. Clubhouse could use some updating but not as much as the fairways. The drink cart came by often and had great service!

Okay, it is February, so maybe I should cut them some slack until spring,But I am a local resident who plays here frequently due to the convenience of being able to almost walk to the clubhouse. Over the last 2-3 years, the maintenance of the course has really suffered. The course is loaded with senior players during the week and both courses are packed on good-weather weekends. So the course sees plenty of divots and pitch marks during any given week. There seems to be a real problem at this course with people who don't know how to (or don't care to) fill divots with sand mix or fix pitch marks on the greens. In the last month alone I have played here with a group of seniors and then paired as a single with a couple beginners. Both rounds featured 3 guys taking deep divots in the fairways and 3 guys leaving pitch marks all over the greens. I even stopped once and tried to train a guy how to properly fix a pitch mark. He looked at me like I was an alien from outer space.Perhaps the rangers at the course (there are several) need to make occasional pit stops greenside... chat up the 4-somes coming and going on the greens and give them a simple, "hey guys and gals, don't forget to repair your pitch marks". This may go a long way to getting this course in better shape.
