There are 4 routes to take for hikes. I like Pot Rocks best. The end is fantastic. worth the hike. This is a great place to hike in both winter and summer. During the summer months, people swim at Pot Rocks!

Went there for a day trip for hiking with family and friends. The kids loved it. There are multiple entrance to the state park . There are signs missing in some parts, best not to venture into those parts. The rest of the area is very well marked. there is a beautiful little creek right in the middle. The hike was not difficult yet enjoyable.

Our church holds their annual picnic in the park, Great for large groups and celebrations. Plenty of parking spaces, picnic tables and grills. Nature and green pasture at best. That we love Perry Hall as home, It has everything.

Locals visit this beach because of a short drive. The sand is dirty and if you go on a weekend it is packed. Weekdays are not much better because only one of the beach areas is open for swimming even though there are four swim beaches. You will not be able to see let alone save your child if there was a water emergency. Appeals to lifeguards or rangers to open another beach or stop incoming traffic were just ignored. Save your $3 entry and drive to a real beach!

I visited Gumpowder state park two weeks ago, specifically the Hammerman Beach area. What a hidden gem! I'm thrilled to find an actual beach with a swimming lake so close to home! This place was beautiful. Nice view, nice lake breeze, plenty of shade trees, grassy areas or beach area for laying out on. There are charcoal grills available and picnic tables. There are shower/bathroom facilities that are fairly clean and even a small restaurant. The selection at the grill was fairly minimal though, so I'd reccomend packing a lunch. While we were there they were out of a lot of stuff and only had two ice cream flavors, and very few ice cream on a stick options. They did have great snowballs though! The water was warm, a d the slight waves were plenty delightful for the little ones in our group. There were lifeguards on duty as well. Our kids enjoyed sifting the sand for cool rocks, digging holes in the sand, and building sandcastles. Bring some inner tubes so you can enjoy the deeper water and the waves. There are no trash cans so bring a bag for your own trash. The coat is $3 per person and all kids in car seats are free. There are playgrounds all around the area as well. There is a really cool recylcled tire playground just before the exit that the kiddos LOVED! They quickly began a game of hide n seek that lasted an hour! We will definitely be back again this summer and look forward to coming here for years to come creating fond memories for our family.

Went to Gunpowder Falls for a day trip. The hiking was awesome! The trail is not difficult and very pretty to walk on. We were able to find the swimming hole and stopped for about two hours to eat and go for a swim, which was a rare treat. A great place to go for a hike!

We went on a half-day exploration trip to get out of the city (Baltimore) for a while. This state park was the perfect elixir: fresh air, mild breezes, grass, sand, paved or gravel roads, small groups of people or pure silence. This park offers so much in terms of land space, water and activities, and you can take advantage of all the activities - or none, just plop down a blanket and rest in the quiet and clean atmosphere. Go anytime you need a quiet respite. There is an entrance fee. In off-season, the fee is paid by car; in the high season (summer), the entrance fee is per person. (check the website for verification)

Get away from the city in this pretty river side park not far from Baltimore. Easy parking on the east side of the road, then the trailhead access is on the west side, and there is a tunnel under Belair Rd./Highway 1 to get there. Easy walk through the woods.

We were just basically driving by in search of a nearby Covered Bridge. It was a gorgeous summer afternoon, lots of people (mostly families) were enjoying the day in the picnic area by the visitor's center, so we were fortunate to get some good information. The visitor's center was closed, but we were still able to pick up a map and drive around a bit. We plan on coming back for one of the festivities they do on the weekends. They had a museum, if you will opened across the street from the welcome center. It was great to see history so well preserved. If we were nearby residents, for sure we'd be frequent visitors. It's free, it was clean and so much to do.

We went there to see the waterfall. There was no map to show us which way to see the waterfall, and the office closed at 4pm on Sunday. We tried to find the waterfall which show in their picture but end up we gave up. Such a waste time. There should be map or at least something to show us where the waterfall is.

Great for hiking. Probably one of my favorite State Parks. Lots of scenery and lots of fun. Some of the trails can be a little treacherous though, so be prepared.

I go fly fishing here all the time. The river has lots of different terrain and a healthy trout populations. There are also nice hiking trails throughout the park.

Gunpowder use to be a fairly beat up park., but I must say they have cleaned it up a bit. I am very glad because its a Maryland landmark!

It's a shoestring shaped park that has plenty of little areas that satisfy most outdoor appetites. In the summer go and find a nice spot and take your shoes off and cool your feet near a waterfall.
