A most "go to" museum. The artist is thought provoking and many times he is actually there. They offer classes and many opportunities to share.

The Ratner is a special experience and changes often enough to keep coming back. Worth a visit if you have never been.

This is a wonderful museum in the Bethesda area. It features work of local artists, among other things. The art is wonderful and the museum is a gem. Sadly, it was damaged by rain and will be open in about 4 months. It is truly worth it to patronize this jewel.

The main museum suffered extensive water damage in January 2014 from burst water pipes. A few items were relocated to the carriage house where we saw them in March 2014 but that collection is insignificant compared to what must be housed in the main museum.Before you go, call them four hours and availability. You can also check their website and look at the calendar page (or so they told us). Normally, the museum (which is free) is open half days 1-4 pm. Free parking, just off Old Georgetown.The person staffing the carriage house was very enthusiastic and we look forward to visiting the museum when it opens later this year. (We gave it 3 stars for its potential, but we can't really rate it properly until we visit next time.)

The artist that owns the museum is most known for the sculpture at the Statue of Liberty. Included in the museum, is some of his work (Jewish related) and a rotation of art from local artists. Small, but nice.

This Mister Ratner must be a very happy guy. He's a prolific artist, painter and sculptor, and he's gotten his very own museum! I had not heard about him before, but now I do recognize some of his works now in other public settings. Even if they are not first-rate, there is a joy and dynamic in his artworks that's infectuous. -- Apart from the permanent, mostly Jewish-themed collection, there are new shows of arts and crafts, quilts and whatnot from other artists and crafters on display. That makes it worthwhile to go back once in a while. Admission to this museum is free, and they're very welcoming there. Some events and performances have an admission charge. It's useful to get on their email list and stay apprised of upcoming events.

This place may be small by comparison to the heavy-hitters in downtown DC, but the purpose makes a big statement: to glorify God through contemporary art. Philip Ratner brushes off the beloved Old Testament characters and gives them a modern, sometimes whimsical, deeply symbolic, look that keeps you exploring the piece. In addition, there are many textile and needlepoint pieces by other artists that are hung to complement his works. My 12-year-old daughter immediately suggested the appropriateness of the Ratner Museum for a school field trip, demonstrating its broad appeal. Try it. You'll be blessed.

You have to know where this museum is located. We must have driven by it a hundred times before we finally stopped. There are some lovely sculptures and I loved the fact that children are welcome. It has been some time since our last visit but I seem to remember a room specifically for children to try their hands at art.

I can't believe that I have lived in the DC Metro area forever, and I did not know about this gem. The museum is located in Bethesda Md. Admission is free. The lower level features a rotating display of art from many local artists, and the upper gallery feature the works of Philip Ratner. Mr. Ratner's sculptures depicting Biblical people and stories are amazing. I could have spent hours devouring the art. So a return visit is imminet!
