It was October so a little cold to be out on the sand. We sat in the car for an hour or so and just enjoyed the view at Surfside.

Always enjoy this beach - it is rarely crowded and offers a great expanse for long walks. Waves can be large but the swimming is fun - not far from the bike path which makes it easily accessible.

even if you're staying in town, take your bikes on the bike path to the most beautiful beach on nantucket!

We've just arrived to spend a few months just past the high season, so the crowds are gone and the parking abundant. And the expanse of vacant white sand wide open!I, personally, enjoyed the white shark warning sign, which adds excitement to an otherwise someone quiet afternoon. (You're supposed to swim clear of the seals, which is supper to the sharks, they say.) People were there sunbathing, picnicking, fishing, and, like us, out for a stroll. The sea was calm enough to permit skipping stones, and here and there were shells worth picking up.The people were friendly. Someone told us right away upon arrival on island this was so, and he's been right so far. A word or two with anyone, and we were in a delightful conversation about fishing, travelling and not swimming where there are signs about hungry sharks. Happiness!A beautiful, sunny day. (If they let me, I'll give another review in a month or so, when the weather will doubtless be miserable.)

Visited the end of September, so we had the place to ourselves. Lots of room, clean sand and good surf. Ocean swimming, so be careful! Changing area, showers and rest rooms. Not too much room in the parking lot. About 3 mile ewasy bike ride from town.

Great beach at Nantucket. Easily accessible by bus for just $1.50 per way. There's a restaurant for food and drink; public bathrooms and even rentals for chairs, umbrellas and yes, even towels! Jeeps are not allowed on the beach and there's a warning about sharks. Views are stunning and the sand is deep. We kept sinking just walking down to the beach. The beach was not very crowded so you could enjoy it. The water is cold! In July is supposed to be the hottest time of the year but at just 70 degrees, that means the water is still cold!

This is a truly beautiful beach and is very, very long. Plenty of space for everyone and you won't feel crowded in. There is a food stand/kiosk at the car park, so you don't need to bring food and drinks to the beach if you don't want to. There are also restrooms and showers located right next to the food stand/kiosk.

Great snack bar, yummy seafood sandwich. Nice bathrooms. Beautiful beach to swim or sunbath. Another one of my favorites in Nantucket because of the bathrooms and food options so conveniently located.

ManuLLosangeles

One of the most popular beaches, where jeeps are not allowed. It's a long stretch of white grainy sand, with sand dunes behind, and beautiful mansions all around it. There is a food stand, and a place where you can rent beach chairs, and umbrellas.

Whilst in Nantucket I went to Surfside, Miacomet, Cisco, Madaket and Jetties beach. I think Surfside is the best all around beach if you're staying somewhere between town and SurfSide as it has an easy bike path, the beach is wide, breezy, not terribly crowded, has toilets and showers, and a little food kiosk. Miacomet is second on the list but a bit harder to get to on bike, followed by Cisco, even further out, but a fun beach to watch the surfers, we even saw a seal! No toilet facilities in either - maybe a port-a-pottie, at Cisco and Miacomet, no food kiosk. Madaket was my least favorite - narrow beach and too many erratic angry waves. You can eat at Millie's but it's closed on Wednesdays. Very far to cycle to but a very nice energetic ride!

Positive: Public restroom and snack shed. Negative: snack shed had terrible assortment of items, and because it was towards the end of the season, I think they were not restocking. We got expired apple slices! Also, incredibly long walk to the beach. Would go to other beaches...loved Dionis

Waves, pristine sand, food available, restrooms, plenty of parking, short walk to the water, easy access from anywhere.

Living in the Oceanstate (Rhode Island) I am fortunate to have access to beautiful beaches. Each and everyone of them is different, but beautiful. So, too, is Nantucket's Surfside Beach. The wide expanse with waves breaking on the shore is breathtaking. Although I didn't swim here (neither did my husband or friend) we could tell it would be rough with an undertow and churning. So if you are planning on taking a dip do it with caution; especially if you have young children. Regardless, you will enjoy a day here, even if it is to just sit and take in the beauty around you.

Surfside is my favorite beach on the island. There's a shuttle that takes you right to the edge of the beach. There's a snack shack for refreshments. The beach is long and deep, so there is plenty of room. It's a busy, popular beach but definitely worth a visit.

Perfect beach for all three. Seals frolicking in the surf and the sand is real nice on your feet. My first time at the beach's in Nantucket and would go to Surfside any time.
