I have taken all my nephews to ride the train. I have been going there for 20 years and have made friends with the engineer and 4 out of 6 have ridden with the engineer.
Dan & I did a special excursion. Little did we know that a box lunch was included! Had I known that, I wouldn't have made sandwiches for us.Great staff & scenery.
Lunch was average, but the riding through the woods was a treat during the Fall. It's fun for kids and train lovers and a unique experience.
Charming well kept and refurbished dining cars. Service is very good. The price is "A" typical of speciality dining. Must visit and let the kids see all those old trains.
I took my Momma up to eureka for a girl's weekend, and we decided to take the Lunch train as a lark.I am SO glad we did! The food was so, SO good, service was exemplary, and the scenery could not have been better! The conductor let us all lay coins on the track, then he backed over them for us- that was cool! But! you gotta spit on them to make 'em stick, LOL! My mom got the biggest kick out of that!!The only draw-back was that we didn't know it is not a :loop", but that they literally back up from the half-way point. but that wasn't a big deal- it was still GREAT! My husband and I look forward to going on one of the evening Dinner rides. Think it'll be quite romantic!
My husband is a train fanatic so he was fascinated by the entire experience. We wanted to go on the lunch train, but didn't get there in time. Hint: MAKE RESERVATIONS! We went on the regular ride and it was about like riding on a school bus. There was only one car and not really a lot of scenery, but the conductor gave an excellent presentation of the history of the area and the railroad. I wouldn't make a special trip to Eureka Springs just to ride the train, but if you're in town already, not a bad way to spend an couple of hours.
This is a must for all the train enthusiasts in the family. The main station ticket depot has numerous items of yesterday and the old engines like the ones that built the panama canal are there on display. The train ride is very authentic of yesterday and the windows do function as they did back when. Recommend~ YES
As a train buff, I eagerly awaited this trip and was not disappointed. From the historic station to the gift shop to the actual trip,it was all first class. Take this trip.
One of my favorites! The tour guide was great - he talked about the railroad and railcar history and added other facts about Arkansas. You ride to a turn around spot and they let you put coins on the rail to flatten them, so have some change handy.
You go through some real pretty areas but it is really only 15 minutes down the track. You do get a nice history lesson and get to have coins and nails smashed by the railway car.
The service was excellent. Servers were friendly and accessible. Food was sub par for the price. Skip the meal and enjoy the Baked Alaska. The ride was a view of the water treatment plant, a stream, the highway and a train track. No view. Ride was a short distance and we spent 40 minutes over the stream while the meal was served. If you are expecting a view or a good meal, this is not for you.
We took the noon train raise out the ESNA railway. Enjoyed the view out the windows, and the people in our train car. No too crowded or noisy. Trip was a bit short I thought for the cost.
We took a regular train ride at noon (no meal) and our Engineer was so entertaining and informative! He had great stories and fascinating tales of railroad history. We even got to get off halfway through the ride and place coins on the track for the train to run over and flatten for souvenirs! The scenic view is alright (not like you're riding through the Rocky Mountains or something) but the train ride was very interesting and fun. We would definitely recommend!
The museum was pretty interesting, and all of the antique equipment was an unexpected glimpse into the past. We dined on the dinner train and my husband and I had the prime rib, sad to say I wish we would have skipped the meal. The wait staff was very friendly and made the experience pleasurable. The steak wasn't prepared well and had little flavor, the rice tasted frozen and had the consistency of sticky mush, and the veggies were overcooked. The presentation of dessert was interesting and unique. Visit the museum, skip the food.
Yes we went to Eureka Springs and we had a great time we stayed at Regency Inn and it was a blessing the owners are great people, the rooms were clean and comfy the Comp breakfast was great and the hospitality was awesome, if you want to treated like guest stay here.
