Is this in Pelsor? Some reports state that the location is in Whitt Springs, and some give Ben Hur as the town.To get to the camp ground you must go down falling water road. This is a very long dirt road with amazing views. The road is okay. I lived in the middle of nowhere most of life and this road is better than ours was. While the road is fine for cars and trucks, low cars like sport cars and RV's would probably bottom out on this road. We stayed at the Richland Creek Federal Park. It was pretty nice. Camping is primitive. There were tables and fire rings and new chat for the camp area. You can also find a well house for water and pit toilets. No showers and no light. Camping was free. While we were there, no one else was in the camp area. We had it all to ourselves and it was very nice. The creek isn't far from the camp area and a very short easy hike will get you there. The hiking is just wonderful. There are no marked trails so you need to be prepared with compass, map, personal GPS etc. The terrain isn't bad, but I would not exactly call this hiking easy. This is wilderness. Yeah they have camp sites and yes there is a well house, but make no mistake. This is out in the boonies. We had no cell service at all. We love this kind of thing but some people may not be prepared for it. This is nothing like camping at the lake. Basically you are on your own out here, so know that before you go in. Biggest tip I can give is to completely understand that this camp area is out of the way. If you forget something you will be driving about one and a half hours round trip to a store that may or may not have what you are looking for. There is a store in Pelsor that has ice, food, etc. I think there is a store in Whitt Springs but I don't know that for sure. It looked to us not to be open. I truly cannot wait to come back. It was so peaceful.
