enjoyed seeing the WWII generator station and what was left of the gun. Seeing the moss trees up close. Picking salmon berries and trying them.

This state park is a gem. Miles of great trails for hiking, a nice stocked lake, fabulous ocean views from countless scenic overlooks, good beach access, historic WW2 bunkers, and camping. Old growth forests draped with moss give Fort Abercrombie a unique atmosphere. Don't miss this place if you visit Kodiak.

Some of the best views of the island. I enjoyed walking along their trails and seeing the remnants of the WWII fort. They could use a better mapping system but getting lost was half the fun.If you cannot handle being lost, I suggest you download their online maps because the maps at the park are useless.Overall I had a wonderful time, and I am planning a second visit before I leave Kodiak.

This place has it all, trails, camping a lake, ocean views and a really cool museum to boot. It is absolutley beautiful to boot if you are on Kodiak this is a must visit.

Beautiful state park! The trees and forest is kul, views of the ocean are excellent, and the old WWII history is pretty neat. Visited in the off season when all of the tourist stuff was closed, but still could walk around in the park and camp and all kinds of fun stuff! We had some spare time waiting for our flight and just went to check it out, was def worth the stop!

So much WWII history in a beautiful park setting with hiking trails and informative exhibits. Spent most of a morning there, but missed museum because of Labor Day holiday.

Visit the area that was once a fort in WW II. The museum was closed when we were there and not sure if it's still open. A very nice area for a picnic or hike through the woods.

It is possible to camp in this beautiful park near the town of Kodiak and enjoy the forest, the lake, and the seaside. A nice visitor's center... Just don't belive what what they tell : There ARE bears in Fort Abercrombie like everywhere else in Kodiak, take care!

Fort Abercrombie is, in part, situated on a lovely bluff overlooking the water. There are nice walking trails and an interesting little museum about those who defended against planes flying in to this part of Alaska from Japan during World War II.

We were on a group tour and visited this location. An excellent piece of WWII history with a surprisingly great museum, well documented and maintained. Area shows the historical gun placements. The locals have done a great job on the museum and deserve create for this.

I loved hiking in this forest, it was so soft and mossy. Saw lots of berries and the cliff top hike was awesome.

We stopped at the military museum. It was nice to see. The views of the water and surrounding area were great.

There are many nice hiking options with wildflower interpretive signs in the park. And, the beauty of this area is simply amazing. I was not aware of the WW II hisotry on Kodiak so that was also an interesting learning experience for me. This park is not to be missed.

Interesting history from WW II and nice hiking trail around Lake Gertrude. A quiet place to stay by the ocean.

Good walking trails for those of us who are not serious hikers. Stop at the HQ and talk to the Park Ranger for information on the role this area played in WWII. It is fascinating! This is an easy place to spend a day within minutes of downtown Kodiak.
