The park includes great paved hiking trails, boardwalks down to the beach, and a great pier. We spent a couple hours enjoying the sea and sun and found a lot of shells.
We rented a tandem bike and rode all of the trails. Also highly recommend the nature hike. The naturalists were very knowledgeable. This is a wonderful park.
This park is huge and has something to offer for everyone. We explored the park on bikes and found rental sites that included cabins, cottages and an RV park. The RV park had a pool and a community room with planed activities for their guests. The golf course has it's loyal fans. Our visit was in winter months but it looks like there are additional activities during the summer months. We will return to bike or walk more of the many trails. Stop in at the office for a map and a full list of activities.
I'm happy to report there's no entrance fee and hiking trails available. Stop in at the park headquarters to learn about them all or just check the website. When you tire of walking on the beach, come here to check out another local ecosystem.
We went here to see find a walking trail. We found that and than some. They have cabins for rent, RV park, pool, and beautiful biking and walking trails that go on for over 20 miles on a round trip ride. This park is kept up very nice and encompasses a golf course as well.
The park is huge and offers miles and miles of paved trails for walking and biking. The trails also offer benches so one can relax and take a break. Great atmosphere.
Great park, cabins, facilities, beach and lake. We stayed in 2 room cabin near lake with all basic utensils and comfortable beds. You also have several grocery stores within 2 miles from park gate. Walmart 50 yards from entrance. Lots of local food places n outlet mall to kill time. You have zip lines across the lake and access to pier and beach. White sand, clear water n ability to fish from pier.
This is about 6700 acres I believe. They have a good mid to high handicapper golf course that anyone can enjoy. I personally enjoyed the paved walking/biking trails. If you are lucky you will see an alligator. The trails have distance markers so you do not get farther away than you wish to walk back. Mostly level to gently rolling.
I stay in loads of state parks and would like to reassure you , they don't get any better than this. The campground is fabulous.Amazing walking / biking trails, 15 miles of blacktop trails, 2 1/2 miles of pristine white sand beaches, walk to lots of bars and restaurants. Been here many times and will return many times too. Love it. Come on down
On a much warmer day......am sure this place would be spectacular.....for so many reasons...including cabins things to do close by including hiking and biking and of course the beach and the water and all it offers.....The park is bigger than I had thought and has lots of areas to explore. From what I saw of this....if you are looking for outdoor fun in the sun ahd sand....and are up to do some hiking.....this is the place.
Visited Gulf State Park on several different days. It has trails for biking and walking. A nature center, a golf course and then there is the seashore with wonderful white sand. Very convenient to Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Foley. Bravo! to Alabama Parks.
You could get to the trailheads without entering the park, but for just $1 it was worth paying the entry fee to get to the nature center. The volunteer there was very helpful and friendly. There were restrooms there. The Butterfly Garden is near the center of many of the trails and there are restrooms there, too.
A great place for any outdoor activity, biking, hiking, or just walking about some of the fiest facilities in the south, the staff are super friendly and the bike trails are really well maintainedHint: morning and afternoon are best for dolphin watching
We came during the off season. The sand is beautiful and white! The sand dunes were a perfect backdrop for some spectacular photos.
Wife and I rode bikes on to the state park and rode amongst the RV camping areas and discovered the park is connected to several excellent biking trails. We spent late morning and early afternoon riding about a total of 20 miles or so riding the paved trails through the woods and camping areas. Would definitely go back just to go riding. Very friendly folks walking and riding on the trails.
