This is an awesome place for family. Civil War and American Indian culture museum a must visit. Awesome park to walk around, have family picnic, take photos, let the kids fish in the catch and release pond and play on the playground. Civil War re-enactments are great. The park is also a wonderful place to hold events such as weddings, family reunions, parties, etc. A must visit. We live in the area and have been many times. Have taken out of town family/friends when they come to visit.

This was recommended by a employee at Cheaha State Park. The drive was long but the museum was awesome filled with historical pieces I loved the Furnace! We found this a pleasant place to visit and interesting. Bring walking shoes so you can enjoy the Park.

For lovers of local histories, particular dealing with the Civil War and American Indian culture, you might have a pleasant surprise at this park with it's very nice museum which I though was a highlight of the visit. The furnace itself is interesting and you can enjoy fairly easy hike over the site.

I want here on a school field trip with my grandson.Obviously the "red carpet" had been rolled out for the kids. There were people all over the property dressed in costume of the area. They even did a Civil War Battle re-enactment and fired a real cannon. My grandson and all the kids had a great time as I did myself and all the other adults. This is a great look into history for this area. You should visit if you find yourself here.

A nice park, and a great place to bring the kids,to teach them. There is a playground near the front, hiking trails,a lake with picnic tables, and a museum.Admission to the park and the museum is free. They have added a new attraction the Daniel's house, which has quiet a story. The lake is located on the backside of Janney Furnace.

Janney Furnace Park has an excellent walking trail. Most of it is asphalt and then gravel. There is a children's park there. The momunent for those killed in action in the Civil War from Calhoun County Alabama is there. They have Civile War re-enactments there about twice a year. And there is a muesum for the Civil War located there also.

There is a small museum adjacent to the furnace and memorial, but i did not check it out. The furnace itself is pretty impressive looking and worth a few pics. There is a sign that says "please don't enter", which meant that of course i had to enter. Made for a great photo op. The Calhoun County Civil War Memorial is nice, with all the names of the Civil War dead that hailed from Calhoun County. The marble walls are etched with the names, plus a likeness of Robert E. Lee and the Gallant John Pelham. It was free to see each of these.

Been there numerous times, usually in conjunction with some event or another. Regular seasonal histrical reenactments add to the thrill. The musuem is small, but contains some great items.
