I am not usually a big car museum person, but I really enjoyed visiting this one. The cars and the history behind some of them are just amazing. The decor is so unique. I am glad I have had the opportunity to visit.

When we walked in, there was absolutely no one in the gift shop or ticket area. We waited for about 10-15 minutes and no one ever showed up. We finally walked into the actual museum and we found that guy who was working there. He was super nice and gave us a great tour of the museum. He told us to the story behind the cars which made it much more interesting. However, if you are expecting lots of Fords and Chevy's you will be disappointed - the museum focuses mostly on Mopars and Dodges. It is not a huge museum, but definitely worth a visit. :)

My oh My oh My!! First and foremost, I would like to thank Steve for giving me a tour of the museum and for telling me about the cars at the museum. I would also would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Tim Wellborn for providing the cars for us "car nuts" to see. Thank you.I decided to plan a trip to Alex City after reading about the cars and barn finds in several muscle car magazines. I drove by the place twice, thinking "Oh it nothing but a garage." Finally, I pulled into the parking lot and the first thing I saw a fairly new dodge Challenger. I was like okay. Then I looked at the garage and I saw a couple of guys working on a car. I walked in and Steve was there at the counter. I signed the book and he started talking to me. I looked around at the front and said to myself, "Hmmm nothing special." He smiled and said welcome to the museum and to go through the double doors. I went through the double doors and I thought I had went to muscle car heaven. As soon as I walked in, there was a beautiful car there and from there oh my. Mr. Wellborn collects Mopars. There were several Dodge Challengers and Chargers, Plymouth Cudas, GTXs, 2 AMCs (one was an Alabama police department javelin), Oldsmobile Cutlass 442, 2 Chevelles, a beautiful grabber Blue Mercury Cougar. There was a lemon twist color Plymouth Superbird (very beautiful) and tucked all the way in the back was a 1966 Dodge Charger (in an "As is" condition). There were also several Pontiac Firebirds that were owned by Burt Reynolds. There is a "Smokey and the Bandit" Firebird that was customized, comes with paperwork and has Burt Reynolds' hat in it. The cars I mentioned are just a few at the museum. Mr. Wellborn definitely knows his stuff. However, besides the cars, one should also look at the vintage signs that are in the museum. The signs are old dealership signs, former gas station signs, advertisements of the era. It was definitely a pleasure to walk around the museum and then to have Steve comment on the cars was an added bonus. I stayed at the museum for at least 2 hours. The first hour just talking to Steve and admiring the cars. The second hour taking pictures. Once you leave, the museum area, look to your right. You will see a lot of items in glass cases. The glass cases includes toys of yesteryear, a lot of NASCAR items, several Richard Petty items. Mr. Wellborn's track suit was there (yes, Mr. Wellborn raced and the side fender of his race car is on the wall in the museum). The museum was definitely worth the trip (drove from Memphis to Alex City on my way to Tallahassee's Car Museum). By the way, if you are hungry, there's a Sonic's next door. For those of you who are disabled and use a wheelchair, there are no steps, just a

If you like cars, Mopars, you must go!! If you didn't like this place, go to the zoo or something!!Tim is awesome, and took the time to show us around. We drove 3 & 1/2 hours & it was worth every minute.

I literally felt like I had spent an hour in the 1970s and when I walked out it took a bit to adjust to the now. This labour of love museum is so beautifully done, even if you aren't interested in cars - like me - you will have the time of your life. There are so many cars here, like Burt Reynolds' 'Smokey and the Bandit' car, a Corvette with less then 5,000 miles on it and where some of the cars came from is moving. The stories and the cars, the posters all around, the signage, the passion and enthusiasm will wrap you up and you'll be thrilled you stopped by.Alexander City is a cool little place and this is one of the gems here.

This place is amazing. The collection of cars on display is unbelievable. I was amazed to find such a gem in a small Southern town, but there ya go.

The fee for this museum seems out of line for what is there. Lots of cars, but nothing really special. Men would probably enjoy this more than women.

This is my favorite car museum....and I don't even like cars. From cars to the parts room, everything is prefectly restored. If you are ever lucky enough to meet Mr. Wellborn, he is extremely personable and gracious. The cars change frequently so every visit is unique. I highly recommend a visit.

Awesome collection of '71 Chargers. All but two colours missing at the time we visited, Dec 2010. All american real musclecars. Thanks to JoAnn at Mistletoebough B&B we found out about this. Me and my wife were on tour around the States and were very lucky to stop at Alexander City, AL.Thanks to Tim Wellborn and staff for showing us the collection.Todella hieno kokoelma seiskaykkösiä Chargereita. Kävimme USAn retkellä täällä, yöpymispaikan vinkillä löysimme ihan vahingossa. Loistava meininki.
