Really interesting to people not familiar with the local culture and have a better initial understanding. Can be very different from the rest of the US which the general tourist (especially international, like myself) know better.

We enjoyed sitting in the pavilion and listening to Cajun music before walking the village. It was very interesting to go in each house. The place is very well maintained. Don't miss the ferry!

We often go for special events and always enjoy the visit. If you haven't been or haven't been to Lafayette, give it a shot...any time you are here

Acadian Village has some lovely old buildings and may be very nice during special events, but if you're deciding whether to visit here or Vermilionville, go to Vermilionville. Acadian Village is more rundown, and there are many badly neglected collections of "stuff" in the houses with no explanation. This was our only visit, but it seemed like it hasn't been kept up very well from it's original installation.

We try and make it out to Acadian Village each Christmas for the lights. This year it was very nice. Try and make it during the week and early in the evening, as to avoid the big crowds. I would suggest this to any family.

Great place to walk around and see the lights for Christmas time and some original homes that date back to the early 1800's. Have patience because there is a lot of people on the pathways.

We had a very enjoyable Christmas experience while visiting the Acadian Village this Dec14, worth the visit and go early to avoid traffic and lines, purchase tickets prior to arrival and save time and $$The village is decorated in the spirit and plently to see and enjoy the stroll around, music, food and people watch.Something different through out the year but worth the effort to get out and see the Christmas village.

My wife and I were traveling from NC to visit friends in San Antonio. Had never been to Lafayette but knew a little about the area being the center of Acadian culture so we spent three days looking around. The Village was absolutely an excellent way to learn and appreciate all the area has to offer. You can spend a few hours or all day - choice is yours. But, if you are at all interested in learning about the Acadians - this is where to start!

I was so delighted to experience this wonderfully decorated Christmas Village. All cottages were decorated with lights and various Christmas characters. There was also an amusement area which the kids absolutely loved. Getting to ride a train AND be the actual driver of the train (with the ability to ring the bell) put a huge smile on my grandson. The roasted peanuts brought back many childhood memories.

A wonderful Christmas light display in the entire village, every holiday season. A magical place to come for kids and grown ups, also. They serve food and drinks for purchase and have choirs and bands for shows during the event. Also a great Acadian Cultural Center to see historic homes and way of life from the first settlers of the area.

Always attend the Blackpot Festival in October. Very clean and authentic looking. The Festival has great food, music, and crafts. We enjoy walking around the grounds enjoying the people and music. Good experience to enjoy Cajun Country and culture.

We really enjoyed this attraction. We were there on a Sunday and there was an event going on so it may have been more lively than usual. Lots of fun.

Many authentic Cajun houses and buildings to see. Nice peaceful place. Lots of nice pathways to walk on. Beautiful at Christmas!

While I'm too young to remember Acadian during this time period I have parents who can. They have wonderful stories. My uncle actually built several of these structures. My visit was to share my culture with my children so they can one day pass it down to their children.
