i-10 east louisiana welcome center

I live near this welcome center. When I need Louisiana tourist information, I always stop here. The staff are always friendly and very helpful. They have a good selection of travel brochures, hot coffee, and they can answer almost any question you have. Parking is convenient.

The restrooms were clean but old. No soap in the dispenser. Plenty of brochures and smiling faces behind the counter. The grounds are well cared for with dramatic moss hanging from the trees. Plenty of covered picnic tables to enjoy a lunch on the road.

We had just experienced a stop in Texas at a rest stop and there is no comparison. This one in Lousiana is by far the best. Clean lobby area and clean rest rooms. Lots of brochures for the taking and free coffee. Just great southern hospitality.

This was one of our best stops on our way to NOLA. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They offer delicious fresh brewed coffee. They helped us booking our accomodations. They had a list of several hotels with excellent room rates and that's how we discovered our wonderful French Market Inn. Millie helped us to find the location of the statue of Charles "Buddy" Bolden considered the creator of Jazz. It's located in Lou Armstrong Park which is within waking distance from the French Market Inn. If you go on a road trip; one of the best places to stop to stretch your legs, use the bathroom, get some snacks and gather information about things to do and places to visit, it's the Welcome Center.

Clean bathrooms but I didn't notice a baby changing station. The staff was friendly and they had fresh coffee. There are vending machines for soft drinks outside. If you geocache, there's a few there to find. Take a stroll along the pier pathway through the swamp which ends in a beautiful view of the water. There's lots of shaded areas and covered picnic tables.

We stopped at the Lousiana Welcome Center looking for a bit of free entertainment for the kids. Inside the building, you can pick up many brochures about things in the state, plus if you are driving a long way, they offer free coffee. Outside there are (expensive) vending machines.But the best part is outside the center. In back is a lake/swamp area with a nice deck that you can walk and see turtles, interesting bugs and sometimes alligators. We were lucky to go on a cloudy day so we didn't sweat too much. We saw huge, colorful grasshoppers that the kids really enjoyed taking pictures of. There were also dragonflies everywhere and the kids thought it was fun to stand in the middle of them. Anyway, it's a nice stop to stretch your legs and see something interesting.

The staff at the Welcome Center are always friendly and nice and willing to assist anyone with questions about things to do in Louisiana, how to get there, etc. Be sure to try the complimentary coffee.

The bathrooms are clean. The view is beautiful. They have covered seating for picnics. You can get many brochures and ideas on what to do if you are going thru LA.
