Visited with our kids ages 2.5 and 4 yrs. They both loved it. It's basically a small children's museum, with friendly staff and easy to keep an eye on the kids because it's just a few large open areas. Watch for coupons locally to get one free entry per group. Entry is $6 per person, $5.50 for seniors. We stayed until the little guy and grownups were tired (about 2.5 hrs), but the 4 year old was begging to stay longer or come again the next day. There is also a little gift shop on site with TShirts and toys, as well as a lunch room (bring your own lunch/snack). They have their own (free) parking lot next door.
We were in the Hammond area and decided to visit the Discovery Center with our almost 3 year old. The Center is smaller than many we've been to, but they make great use of their space and there isn't a lack of things to do to keep kids busy! Our daughter loved the bubble area and kitchen the best, and we could have easily spent 3+ hours there playing! Overall for the price this is a great children's center with a lot of fun things to do!
I held my daughters birthday here and it was great. They did everything for me so it was no mess no stress and thats exactly what I was looking for. Thank You Discovery center. They provide you with a party helper who does everything. They helped with the presents, served the food, and kept all the kids entertained.
Very friendly people. Kids games fun for kids. Santa was there for kids along with Santa cow and helper. Great place for kids to play and visit.
For just a small town, this children's center is top notch. There is a huge variety of interesting "hands-on" activities for children that keeps them occupied for a couple of hours. Half the price of big city discovery centers that Aren't any more fun.
Small fee to enter but overall great place for kids and play dates. They could use a few places for adults to seat and watch the little ones play
Really nice place with lots of things to do. The staff is very hands on with the kids. My 2 1/2 yr old grandson had a blast. So many things to see and do. It truly is an awesome place.
My three year old son and I came here for several hours this weekend. It was such a blast! There were plenty of hands-on activities for small and older children. The staff members were all very friendly and the exhibit and all props were constantly being cleaned. This is a great weekend trip to have some new fun with your children. I only wish we lived closer to make it a more regular activity!
Families with children under 10 will find the perfect place for fun, creativity, imagination and play all in one roof! Whether you're in the creation station, bubble pit or exploring the other exhibits children will have tons of fun making lifelong memories here. Moms & Dads get ready to let that inner child come out to play!
great for kids especially on cold or rainy days, or when your little ones can't play outside. Lots of activities, plenty of staffing, noise level reasonable. its a great place.
It's a smaller area but somehow my family and I were able to stay for over an hour and a half and enjoyed every minute of it!!! They dressed up and did a play, they played the apple slapping game, and loved the bubbles! Price was a bit steep but staff and games were great.
We spent two hours with our three year old great nephew. Although he had been there before he loved it best this time. He especially liked milking the cow, being a server at Middndorf Restaurant, and making a fish in arts and crafts.I would recommend taking the little news here. The Louisiana Discovery Center in Hammond is great.
Good place for just a few hours but not all day. My child enjoyed playing but a day camp was there when we went and it was complete chaos! Te kids were running around crazy screaming and butting and pushing mine out of the way. Either go very early or later in day to avoid madhouse. The only downfall is I thought museum and because we visited Cleveland last year we went to some "real" museums and this was in no comparison to what Cleveland offers as museums. This should be considered a play center of sorts.
My 14 month daughter likes to play and fiddle around the learning centers, but after an hour she becomes bored and not as stimulating. If there are kids that, she was be delighted.
We have been on a number of occasions for kids birthdays. Our son always has lots of fun playing with toys that help develop his understanding of different professions and cultural aspects of our region.
