Classical guitarist was super special! Very pleasant noontime! Not particularly interested in eating during a performance . . .
nothing special about this place. If you are in to local art then check it out. If you are expecting something spectacular then I would advise that you don't go.
I am so proud to be a resident of Danville even though I hail from New England roots. This community features a picturesque and thriving downtown with floral baskets adorning the Main Street, manicured town hall, fine dining restaurant, The Cue, and stately architecture marking Centre College's campus's buildings, theatre and events center. The Community Arts Center is steeped in history and marbled architecture and affords local and national artist exhibits, local events and teaching as well as personal show opportunities for artists. As a juried exhibitor and fine watercolourist/participant in former Artist Calls and Contemporary Art shows, I am grateful to have a venue to showcase my work from time to time or take part in the Gallery hops offered in cooperation with local businesses during the Brass Band festival and autumn craft fair. The CAC also supports holiday ( Lunch with the Arts featured harpist at Christmas comes to mind) and themed events, street art and SO MUCH MORE...feel free to browse their site for goings on during your visit! Laurel A. While there is generally free admission, sometimes an event carries a modest fee for boxed lunch or for the artist performing. Complimentary tea or coffee is often available but food is not a regular offering in my experience...the feast is for the eyes and the soul!
A great spot for displaying works of art. We actually purchased a gorgeous Kentucky-made quilt from the quilt show. This center is also used for community classes in arts and music. What a fantastic opportunity for folks around Danville. Makes me wish I lived there!
Went to the Starry Night paint night with some girlfriends and had a blast. They provide everything except the wine.
The Community Arts Center always has something different on display, and always something that makes you stop and think. Almost all exhibits are free, so it's a great place to wander into if whenever you're downtown. Very friendly, helpful staff, too!
This isn't a place for just one group of people. It is for all! Whether you desire culture, arts, music, history, or social this is a gem of a place. Young and old can find new niches or refine old ones. From starry night studios, renowned exhibits, local artist, to munchkin and me activities. This place has it all. Only limitation is your imagination.
