The Islesford Artists (Gallery) is one of those rare places where you can feel the creative spirit of the artist; certainly an overwhelming presence of their colors reaching out to you. While a bit out of the way of the main street of galleries - certainly the vendors in BH and NE Harbor need no outreach - the Islesford community is one that has some of the finest expressions of realism and (realist) abstraction that I've seen in Maine. And yes, there is a bit of bias to my words - on repeated visits, I have purchased a number of painting by Holly Brooks and prints by Rosamond Lord and Matt Brown. And my wife has indulged as well. So that's for two of us.Now the Islesford Artists is on Little Cranberry Island (off SW Harbor). So access is by boat and a bit of effort. But if you are looking for the spirit that fired the imagination of generations of Maine's artists, then this may be the place for you.
