Great experience, very accommodating, and super friendly. The equipment was good and priced great...the staff and service was outstanding will always rent ski's at Beaver Brook.

We did the Hudson River rafting trip and slept overnight on the side of the river. Our two guides were very knowledgeable and educated in both the outdoors and safety. Luxury camping and exciting class III water, maybe even some class IV. We were first time river rafters and it was thrilling, not for the faint of heart! The water seemed big and scary to a small town girl like me, but it was so much fun I will never ever ever forget it! My kids were young teens at the time, maybe 14 and 16. Much younger than that I think I would have been worried about them. They provided/cooked the food. They set up an "outhouse" in a private area of the woods. Very fun!

Took my varsity soccer team white water rafting today with Beaver Brook Outfitters on the Sacandaga River. Our guide was Tall Dan and he was fantastic. The girls had a lot of fun and everyone left smiling. Great price great day. Thanks to all at the Beave.

6 people in our party; from age 66 to age 7. We chose the Sacadaga River tour, to be easy on the varied ages. It was well worth the time and money. The guides, Nate &others made the bus ride to the entry point humorous & the adventure continued. You'll coast along to a swim point and brave the water, it'll take your breath away! Then it's beautiful. It was most of my parties first time, so it was almost perfect. My only complaint? It was over too fast! All personal touches included, a photo op with DVD & they DON'T force you to buy more than necessary. Very cool and down to earth. we will be back for further adventures, especially the Hudson trip!

There's been a lot in the news in the past year or two about whitewater rafting companies that don't take good care of their customers. This weekend, two girlfriends and I had a fantastic overnight camping trip with Beaver Brook. Our guide, Shane, took great care of us on Saturday, setting up camp and plying us with copious amounts of food, but the company really shone on Sunday, when the dam upstream failed to open as scheduled and the river never rose. Shane managed to get us downstream, stopping often to push or pull our raft over exposed rocks. We had just passed Blue Ledges when another Beaver Brook raft appeared behind us, carrying two guides. They'd come to rescue us, but ended up just taking some of our gear to lighten our raft, so Shane could get us farther downriver to railroad tracks. We were walking out on the tracks when the BB company owner appeared in a railroad company maintenance truck, coming to look for us. He also rescued a larger group from another outfitter - their guide had shown them the tracks and told them to walk until they found a road, then had gotten back on the raft and continued downriver, leaving them on their own. So grateful to Shane, whose calm and good humor made the whole experience another great adventure, and who stuck with us all day, and to Beaver Brook for pulling out all the stops to make sure we got home okay. This was my third trip with Beaver Brook - we always recommend them to friends interested in rafting.

This was my first time rafting and we had a great time. Our guide Rick was fun and told us a bunch of cool facts about he area. He made the trip fun and always made everyone feel comfortable. The raft ride was fun and we had a great time swimming in the river. Fun had by all.

Took family caving with guide Jake. It was an amazing day. The hike was fun but the cave was pleasantly more than we expected. So many rooms to explore. Ventured into the ice room and my southern nieces were able to see snow in July. Thanks Jake and the great staff at beaver brook for a wonderful adventure under the Adirondacks.

We had a awesome experience with the best guide. Highly recommend this place. Our guide was an expert and knew the river perfectly. We were able to do things that other rafters were not able to do because of the great guide that we had. I would recommend having Buzz as your guide every other company knew Buzz and it made us feel safe to know that someone is that well known in the area and he proved it to us. When other rafters couldn't surf we were able to get in there and show them how it is done, all because Buzz knew exactly how to do it.

In August 2013 I was looking for one more family adventure before my daughter went to college. We signed on with Beaver Brook Outfitters for an overnight raft trip through the Hudson River Gorge and had a great time. Our family of four contains experienced paddlers and newcomers to rafting, but we all had a fantastic trip. The summer water levels, which are lower than the rougher stuff in spring, were just right for us. Our first-rate guide, Shane Piller--a credit to the SUNY Adirondack Adventure Sports Program--had us paddling in sync and whooping for joy as he steered us through the rapids. In camp, he was a great cook whose meals pleased three carnivores and one vegetarian. The beauty, adventure and solitude of a overnight trip in the gorge are extraordinary. We're grateful that Shane and Beaver Brook made it possible for us to enjoy them.

We rafted the Hudson with Beaverbrook last week for the second time. It's a small outfit that has a laid back atmosphere but treats its customers with personal attention. From the fitting of wetsuits to the delicious dinner, the company does all it can to give you an excellent day on the river. Our guide was an expert and was very encouraging (considering he had my two young sons as paddlers). He knew the river perfectly and gave us as many thrills as possible. The two other Beaver Brook guides were equally qualified (several guides from other companies had their rafts hung up on the rocks). When choosing an outfit, having an excellent guide means everything, and Beaverbrook seems to staff experts for its rafts. We also spent the night at their inn, and they allowed my wife to stay in our room all day until we returned with no extra charge. Again, very laid back and attentive to our needs.Rafting is not a Disney ride. You will likely get wet and cold and you need to carry the raft short distances in and out of the water. If you want no hardship, ride a log fume at an amusement park. If you want an outdoor experience, Beaverbrook will take care of you.One suggestion for improvement would be a little more variety for lunch. Perhaps a couple of bags of dried fruit and granola bars.A Bit of Advice: Bring your own dry bag with water, snacks and fleeces to warm up at lunch.

We had a lovely day of canoeing on the Hudson River. We were at their outpost near Thurman. They have a 4.5 mile or 11 mile paddle for canoes or kayaks. We chose the 4.5 mile trip. It took about 2 hours, which included 4 stops to play for our 6 year old. They know their business. The river was class 1 moving water and riffles and perfect for a family or novice paddlers. I thought they knew their business. They picked us up at 1000 Acres Dude Ranch as they said they would and brought us back to our car. We did it on a Friday and did not make advance reservations, but I had called to confirm the trip and make sure it was what we wanted. They had all sorts of canoes and kayaks to rent. From this location, you could also do a tubing run, which was about 2 miles long.

As one of the owners of Beaver Brook we appreciate feedback both positive & negative, that is how we learn. However I just wanted to clarify a couple things for folks reading reviews of our company. I was not guiding on the river that day, but I was doing check in that morning. We were moderately busy that day, but not crazy busy and we typically let folks know that if they have water bottles, sunblock or other items needed for the day to bring them along. It is certainly possible we missed mentioning that if we were busy dealing with multiple groups checking in, but that is normally part of our check in process. Also, it is mentioned on every trip confirmation that goes out. We do have water and ice tea available on all trips at lunch. Guides do fall out too. I have been at this over 30 years and I am good for a couple of unexpected swims/year, it's not an every day occurrence, but not uncommon at all. Lunch is pbj's, trail mix, ice tea and water. We have found this to be a good quick lunch that provides an energy boost and can be eaten by almost all of our customers regardless of their dietary needs (Vegans or vegetarians for example). Dinner changes daily and usually consists of bread, salad and a main course (Sounds like it was pasta this day) that is served buffet style. It is meant to be good and hearty and most folks truly enjoy it. The last week or so we have had several different chicken dinners, lasagna, sausage/onions/peppers and fajitas for an example. We are one of the last companies on the Hudson still providing dinner after the trip. All the companies on the river have to carry their rafts out of the river at the end of the trip and our take out is one of the easiest. All trips include an extensive safety briefing on the bus on the way to the river and the guides - every guide - then give their guests a quick run down on paddling and how to sit in the boat. Some are more extensive than others. Mine for instance is pretty brief. Hopefully this information helps anyone reading our reviews. We also welcome folks to give us a call or e-mail with any questions or concerns. Thanks,Pete Burns

We loved it. 16 of us went ranging in age from 5 to 45 and every onehad a blast. The guides were great. The place was very well organised and they make the whole experience fun. We did the rafting on the Sacandaga river whhich was perfect for beginning. The only bad thing about it was that you wanted to do more at the end. We are going to leave the smaller kids at home and go to the bigger white water the next time. Great value for money and great fun.

We want to thank our guide, Corey for helping our son survive!! Even though he was 12, his arms were a bit too short to do all of the hand paddeling required to move. We were on round red tubes and the three of us could not stay together during the adventure. LOTS of FUN, but do the RAFT!!! The tubing is more for experienced people with great upper arm/shoulder strength!! Next time, we would only raft!

Our guide was very nice. The rapids were great for a family trip...not too treacherous. Lunch and dinner included for the special price. All equipment provided.
