This is our third visit to Capitol. We have seen Chicago, and Foreigner twice and this has turned into a great music venue. General admission (standing) on the floor is not for us, but seating in the balcony was great and the sound was amazing. Attracting big name groups like these is what will keep us coming back. Parking is limited.
Hands down, this is the BEST venue to see a concert. I see Phil Lesh & Friends here 10-15 times a year. Intimate. Plenty of bars. Garcia's bar attached, which allows you to roam around. Great Sound. Graphics on the ceiling throughout the show. Bathrooms are plenty and stylish. Every worker is happy and helpful. They don't kick you out when the show ends, which most venues do and get hostile about it. Capital Theater staff is kind and accommodating. Love it.
I have been lucky to see a variety of shows over the last few years at "The Cap", since it's renovation. The mood of the place all comes down from the top and Mr. Peter Shapiro has assembled a fine staff that imbibes the theater with a great vibe. Sight lines are great, even from the balcony. Details abound in the interior with custom wallpaper, brass fixtures and chandeliers in the lobby. Sound and lights are extraordinary. The history of the venue, as a palace for 1960's rock acts, is not ignored. I find the bars to be convenient and although expensive, not out of line with other venues. The talent booking is worthy of mention as well, with a wide variety of top talent incoming. Garcia's Bar (named in honor of The Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia) books in a variety of local bands in a variety of styles. No food is available in the venue but the surrounding area has a wide variety of food choices in all price ranges. Public metered parking is available. Metro North has a direct train line from NYC's Grand Central Station with the station one block away. It's worth the trip from anywhere. I consider it to be my local venue. Just wish tickets weren't so expensive.
My first time at the Capitol to see the Complete Last Waltz and loved the venue. It was GA admission on the floor which was great - with seating upstairs. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. Garcia's bar in the theater is a real nice touch to have. Parking (metered) available right across the street and reasonable, as well a pay lot ($20 for this night - we paid $2 in the meter)Will definitely return here for more shows.
Went to see Chris Tucker a few weeks ago and had some really amazing seats. This place is great! not to big not to small, the waitresses are not that great but you can go to the bar yourself and get a drink. Parking was easy and overall a fun place.
The best music anywhere in the world! Phil & Friends rocked the Cap last weekend. Prices a little steep, but worth it in the long run. Some of our fondest memories start here.
Went to Cap for first time ever Halloween weekend. The sound was fantastic and the lights too. It was like SF's Warfield on the east coast or something...just felt like family and welcoming which was so nice to see in NY! Friendliest staff. Greatest nicest bartenders put up with a lot of nonsense that night and all so nicely...the scarecrow and lovely smiling skeleton cat and Waldo thank you! Best time ever
intimate, comfortable, parking available, Garcia's bar before the show is a treat. Watching for upcoming shows. can't wait to return
NIcely recreated theater in downtown Port Chester. New bars and restaurants in the area make it even better. They have for the past few years been able to attract a few top and many second tier performers.
We went to The Capital Theater to see Amy Schumer preform. The theater has hosted such acts like Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, and Traffic. More of a bar with a theater than a theater with a bar. For an old theater has been taken care of and looks nice. The sound system was clear and the seats surprisingly comfortable. Nice to have beverage service at your seat . We were in the presidential box so my review may be a bit skewed. The Amy Schumer performance was terrible, not worth the money or the time.
When I go to concerts, I become a very old lady. I love having a seat that is assigned to only me. I love not being pushed and shoved and knocked around. That being said, when I buy GA (general admission) tickets to a concert I always get worried that I will not enjoy myself. I know this is mostly dependent on the crowd, but also, in my opinion, on the layout of the venue. I had an amazing time at the Jimmy Eat World show at the Capitol Theater. I felt like the floor area was spacious enough that we were crammed in like sardines. The stage is at a good height that you have a pretty good sightline to the stage - given that a vertically blessed person is not standing in front of you. There's even seating on the upper level, if I did feel a case of the old lady coming on. Drink prices were reasonable. Security did a good job of keeping the idiots in line. All in all, probably one of the best GA shows I've been to!
I've been here numerous times and each time is just as good as the last! Being a Port Chester resident, I was so happy to hear that they were bringing the Capitol back! I used to hear stories from when I was a child about how cool the place was. Now I can see what everyone was talking about! It's beautiful inside and the sound is amazing. Super friendly and helpful staff!
and no issues with sight lines, leg room, the neighborhood or whatevaaaahhhIn fact, with the right act, you might just find the audio sweetness you've been crying for, right here.Better in every way than the Beacon
What I like about this place is everything.... It's a great old theater that has been refurbished... They bring in some really good performers and performances.... Tickets are very reasonable here.... Drinks are available... You can find plenty of restaurants to have dinner at close by and then make it to the show and not be far from home if you're in the Westchester area... Great alternative to NYC...Parking is very easy here plenty of parking there is a small fee but still well worth the value
I went to see many a concert in this 70's concert hall. From Janis Joplin to Rod Stewart. The Capital has unmatched sound with not a bad seat in the house. Jerry Garcia himself declared this and the Philmore East were his favorite venues for sound and experience. That is the reason a bar was incorporated into the new Capital by the name "Garcias."I have seen The Rascals, Chicago and a few other groups that sounded as good as yesteryear. I highly recommend this conveniently located famous theater for all ages.
