We shot a commercial on the grounds here, many moons ago. Made a great setting for the look we were after...
Have. Been here many times and during different seasons. Very serene and peaceful in strolling the beautiful gardens! Do take a tour! Each guide has focused on somewhat different aspects of it's history! Yoga in the garden a must as the teacher is truly amazing! Dog days also a great idea and experience! Highly recommend!
A photographers paradise! I learned a lot about long islands "Gold Coast" from this visit. Extremely educational. Beautifully restored mansion. The grounds are massive!! The gardens were immaculate. The reflecting pool with their water lilies awesome. I know there are many events here during the year unfortunately so many of these places have disappeared on Long Island this is one not to be missed
Old westbury gardens is a great place to visit but especially nice at Christmas time. In the springtime you will get a chance to enjoy the gardens and flowers which are always spectacular. Plan to spend several hours strolling both the gardens and the house. A wonderful time
I have been a member for years.it is a beautiful place to visit. The gardens and mansion are fantastic. They have many special events.
I assume it should be really nice. Still we couldn't enter since the site was close. We didn't see It's mantioned anywhere. So just be advised that the site is close during winter.
A great way feel rich for a small fee. Lovely gardens, magnificent mansion. The Spring is definitely the time to go.
This place is amazing. You can see beautiful gardens and a house that is over one hundred years old. Everything is amazing, especially in the summer.
Our first visit to Old Westbury Gardens, with friends and family ranging from 12 to 52 years old. "The Rise" is an awe inspiring array of 5,000 hand carved pumpkins purposely arranged along well designated walking paths on flat to gentle rolling terrain. The hours of craftsmanship and design is inconceivable, truly a must see. Purchase your tickets in advance, and choose a later reservation time to save some cash. (we went on the last day of showing at a later time and saved 50%) Still, plan to arrive early, cars will bottle neck nearing entrance and road will become a parking lot- a familiar occurrence in New York. Event staff were courteous, knowledgeable, and accommodating, A+.
We visited it last summer. It is a place where lush green nature is beckoning at us . The mansion is full of history .The design of Westbury house follows English country house. The gardens are in color riot. We really enjoy the view here. I recommend it to all of you .
We visited Old Westbury Gardens October 25, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. We were here not to see the gardens, but to view the "Rise of the Jack-o-lanterns " display for Halloween. The creativity and workmanship that goes into the carving of these pumpkins is remarkable. It's a walk through a designated area that takes about 45 minutes to an hour (all flat, mostly paved). Adults as well as children will love it. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Parking is free.
It is awesome place. I am glad that it is open to the public. It is a great place to have a wedding ceremony (we saw 2 on the same day). Flowers garden is very well kept. My advice: bring your own food and have a lunch (they have about 10 tables and plenty of space)Cons: FEE, food choice.
I had a wonderful time strolling in the westbury gardens, learning about the mansion, history and about the different gardens. In my own words, describing my experience.....I drove to old westbury gardens, singing my favorite songs along the way……I entered through the prince gate. The road leading to the mansion was covered on both sides with huge trees. It felt very welcoming, leaves rustling and the branches swaying to the winds and showering he golden yellow leaves on to my car in my way. I parked my car and walked in to the mansion. Intrigued by the Latin inscription over the entrance -” Pax Introentibus – Salus Exeuntibus” and the beautiful carvings above the front door, I walked in to Georgian era that reflected an ideal home for the aristocrat family filled with marble pieces, carved wooden furniture, silk hand painted walls, chandeliers, portraits, trophies, secret closet doors, painted porcelain figurines, elaborately designed fire places and ornate mirrors. there's nothing like listening to the mesmerizing masterful sounds of classical music in a majestic setting. Where else can you get such value as to invest $25 in three and a half hours of entertainment? The Gold Coast estate of Old Westbury Gardens combined with the masterful sounds of Poetica Musica are book ended by a house tour, a pre-concert lecture, and delicious treats in the glass atrium after the show, were you can not only meet fellow patrons of the arts but also the performers themselves! you cannot compare the convenience to having a ride on the Long Island Rail Road to Carnegie Hall or Radio City Music Hall in any stretch of the imagination!
This spot is one of the highlights of our recent visit to Long Island. The mansion is very interesting, and the gardens thoroughly entertained my gardner wife
