Torne Valley resides in an attractive old mansion nestled in the foothills of the Ramapo mountains on the north side of Suffern. Worth a visit especailly when local musicians are performing. Reasonable wine and snacks available during the concerts.
Love weekend wine tasting up here and sitting outside under the canopy...sweet little place close by!
Who knew that this vineyard had been in our backyard for years... Wine tasting, lunch out on the patio with musical entertainment, wedding and party facilities available, all in a lovely landscaped setting.
Very local with exceptional setting. Grounds and historic building were meticulous. Wine tasting was $6 for 6 tastes, pretty typical and reasonable. Wine was so/so. Chardonnay and Riesling were our favorites. Patio setting was seat yourself so it might be tough as there is limited tables and they do not rush you. Many were just enjoying wine or sangria and not ordering food. We decided to split the two paninis. Chicken was ok but the BLT was excellent. Going to make this one at home. The sandwiches were served with a small side salad, chips or potato salad might have been better. What was most memorable was the sangria in red or white. Very tasty. Live music was provided by the rolling tumble weeds. They have a blues band in a few weeks which we are definitely going back to see.
So basically I'm Confused about the good and bad reviews but I will make it a point to check out ..It's so great to hear that there is a winery that close by and I hope to enjoy our visit, and there will b atleast another review to follow ..finger's crossed ...
Made the visit on a Sunday afternoon around 1pm. We were able to get a table with views of the vines and river. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Our server was informative and friendly and several times asked if everything was OK! After a pleasant and leisurely lunch we experienced the wine tasting .... At $5 per head I did not feel this was expensive. There was a band playing which was a little loud but that is a personal thing being a senior citizen!!! Overall a very enjoyable afternoon.
This is the only winery that charges for tasting. The wine was not very good I would not buy it. The service for our food was poor. It took quite a while for 2 sandwiches and a salad. The server never came back to see if we wanted anything else. Would not go back
Was visiting family in Suffern, N.Y. and they suggested Torne Valley for lunch. The property is charming and the views fabulous. It is a family owned business and we were welcomed as old friends. The wine is OK and the lunch adequate. With the live entertainment, it is a nice way to spend some free time on a weekend.
Lovely winery. We went for a weekend wine tasting and stayed for lunch. Wine was ok but not great. Tasting was very reasonably priced and very informative. Lunch was good. Enjoyed the acoustic guitar music. Beautiful views in a lovely setting. Great afternoon!
Nice winery if you want to stay "local".... though a bit hard to find, they need to add signs! Enjoyed a Saturday outdoor lunch with live music and had a wine tasting for a very small dollar amount. The atmosphere is very nice.
went to torne valley vineyard and was very disappointed - the building was beautiful the grounds gorgeous- then we went inside to try the small area they have serving food-when we asked where we were to go to eat we were told to seat ourselves. We chose to sit in the 3 season porch which was lovely. Then we ordered soup and coffee for mom and sliders and soda for myself. The coffee was served in a paper coffee cup the soda in a plastic cup. The sliders were served on a paper tray with a small shot glass sized cup of potato salad. The food was ok but the portions small for the cost and we enjoyed the food until we noted the hair in mom's squash soup.UNACCEPTABLE- In a beautiful setting to have dirty food served on paper plates ruined what could have been a lovely experience- DON"T GO THERE except to drive around outside
this winery offers $5 tastings of 5 nice wines. Open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 5:30 p.m.my daughter and I enjoyed sandwiches and sangria on the patio, listening to music and enjoying the view of the river with the mountains not far away. the wine was good and the tastings are in a large home with a cozy feel. 1 room houses a small gallery. We found this a great place to spend an afternoon just 1/2 hour from home.
This place is a gem just 30 minutes from the George Washington bridge. Great hospitality and wine and food. They have a fantastic music series too.
