This is a great park for ages 3 to maybe 8ish. My little one (3 1/2) had a magical day. Rides were perfect, food was good and very reasonable. We can't wait to go back this year!!
Sad loss since the State took over management of what was a living piece of history...now lost. The Walsh family maintained this until a few years ago. It was something I looked forward to and our children enjoyed as well. Sad it is gonne.
A wonderful place to take the kids for a picnic and a day at the amusement park. Lots of rides for the kids, bumper cars, and a real, honest to goodness carousel with beautifully painted horses. Your kids will love you for taking them to Midway Park, a New York State Park worthy of your visit.
NY state-owned now. Much better when it was family-owned and there were more rides. Prices very reasonable especially Wednesdays. Game room with the usually. Picnic facilities and Lake Chatauqua available for swimming
Midway Park is located in Bemus Point, NY on the shores of Chautauqua Lake, not far from Jamestown. I would recommend this park to those with younger (3-10 years) children. It's free admission is great and for a few dollars they can ride all kinds of rides, play in the arcade, or enjoy some of the great food they offer. The park is clean, safe and very well maintained for it's age.
Great place for little ones! Went there myself growing up came back to visit the place is exactly the same Love that! Wed is wristband day good deal!
Unfortunately (or fortunately) we got to this park later in the day. Glad we didn't have to pay the entrance fee. We just wanted a place to sit, relax and read somewhere around the lake. However, because it was a cooler than normal day for July and only one couple making out in the area, we thought we would give them their privacy and left.
Nice, older, clean kiddy land type park on the lake. Nice picnic areas. Not too expensive. Good family fun. Nothing much for kids older than 8 to do other than a lame Minature Golf course and an even lamer game arcade. Free to get in and walk around but rides are a tad costly if the parent has to ride with the child.
My kids have always gone with their class for field trips to Midway State Park. The wrist bands are relatively inexpensive, but there are not many rides for children above the age of 8 years. Several rides are shut down when there aren't enough employees to operate all of the attractions. If you are in the area and have small kids, however, it is a fun place to stop for a few hours.
This is truly my grandson's favorite place at the lake. You can buy an all day ticket or individual tickets. t he rides have not changed since I as little but the kids love them.
Midway is a wonderful place to bring kids and for kids at heart. Midway was delightful as a child and is even better. It has been refreshed and repainted but the fortune teller is still there as are all the wonderful rides.
I loved going to Midway as a kid, and it is still extremely clean and well kept. It's considered a gem among amusement parks because it still has the old (solid) rides that I played on as a kid ... ok, I guess I have to tell you how old I am now.... 63! Everything is freshly painted & maintained... just original, which is so cool! My parents met at this park, got married, and had me.... so lots of history here! I used to love searching for pennies in the sawdust piles at The Post Journal picnic every year... we all liked Midway, and it's wonderful that kids of all ages can still enjoy both the rides and the memories today! Also, it's on Chautauqua Lake, so that provides a great breeze and a great view.
Midway is fun for ALL ages. They have bumper cars, a race track, and games for older youth and adults. There are several rides, including a train that runs the perimeter of the park, for younger people. I like the fact it is big enough to entertain my grandchildren without being a circus as larger parks are.
For the last several years our family has been getting together for our annual reunion at Midway State Park. We rent one of the pavilions so that we have cover if there is inclement weather, but we are yet to have had a need for this. It is particularly nice to see the history of this amusement park being preserved and shared with new and old generations. I for one particularly enjoy going up to the arcade for a little skeeball or just a game of chance. Facilities are well kept, and the state seems to be putting some money into upkeep and renovation projects for the park.
We took my 3 year old granddaughter here and had a wonderful time. She was able to enjoy mostly all the rides and loved the arcade. Grandma liked it because I could spend a little money to make a big impression. Would recommend this park to all who have children ages 1 - 10.
