Now when my son and now wife told us they had selected Woodlawn beach as their wedding site, We said "where"? Boy were we pleasantly surprised on June 22nd 2014. They exchanged vows on the private section of the beach which was sunny, warm and very beautiful by the water. Afterwards we had the reception at the lodge. Plenty of room for all to dance and celebrate. Breathtaking pictures at sunset. Security was very tight and we weren't bothered by the public at all.

Yes, it was a chilly, very windy day but we were in the mood for some walking. Now, Woodlawn Beach is very controversial when it comes to water quality (it gets closed down for swimming quite often) but there is no reason I can think of not to enjoy walking along its mile-long natural sand beach with its "panoramic views" (quotation marks as these are not my own words). Woodlawn has many of the usual beach amenities: picnic area, lifeguards, playground (on the beach), beach volleyball, lodge (for rent) with restrooms/changing areas, lockers, nature center, shop, bar, and restaurant (mostly closed as it is off-season). What I enjoy most about this site is that it has sand dunes. It is a pleasure to walk along the boardwalk that crosses over one dune area looking for wildlife and reading the interpretive markers. Very few people were around on this day so it was incredibly peaceful. An additional treat was coming out of the wooded area to see kitesurfers enjoying this windy day.This is a dawn to dusk park that is open all year. During the on-season there is a parking fee of $7.00 per car.
