这条登山径实话,非常陡,而且主要是路很滑,我下山的时候差点就没摔倒。但话分两头走,从山上面看下来还真的蛮漂亮的。如果真要走,鞋子很重要。

took us about an hour and 15 minutes to get here, not very strenuous. it also gives you a great view when coming back to the trailhead. it can get a little crowded on busy days, best to go early.

the Crater Lake Trail is a moderate hike with spectacular views at the lake. There was a light dusting of snow on the Maroon Bells which added to the fall flavor. The Aspens were in mid-cycle of their foliage change and the contrast of the green and gold was just a pleasure. Get to the parking lot early as it fills up quickly! On the weekends you must take a shuttle from town.

Love this hike. It winds through the aspen trees most of the way and in fall the colors are beautiful. It's just long enough that you get a good workout but too long so it's suitable for most people. The trail is rocky in sections so wear good shoes and be sure to have water and a snack with you.

When you get to Crater Lake you will be glad you did it... along the way you may huff and puff a bit. Stop and enjoy the views, look around as you ascend / descend...

This was great trail, was a real hike, since you can drive pretty much all the way up to the Maroon Bells. The lake wasn't carrying much water, but, it was quiet and peaceful. The views of the mountains was amazing and surreal. I would recommend this place for anyone who is looking for serious hiking. The best time in my opinion would be early Fall to hike the trail

Not to hard not to easy for novice hikers, it was beautiful and worth the trip, once to the lake we rested, fed some birds and took in the amazing beauty!

I am not an experienced hiker so I had a tough time with this trail. Sometimes I would stop to rest just 10 yards from the last place I stopped to rest! I didn't think I'd be able to complete it, but I did! It was probably the greatest physical accomplishment of my life. I feel sorry for all the people who came to see the Maroon Bells and have no idea what they were missing out on by not trekking up to Crater Lake.

Enjoyable hike. The lake with the mountains in the background are spectacular. Rocky in several areas that make it adventurous but we saw kids and elderly so it can be done by most I think

Just the right challenge ("moderate") with jaw-dropping views. We took dozens of photos and are again amazed with scenery as we review photos. Trails are well marked and area wonderfully clean. Lucky us. Lucky you

The area was just spectacular! Start out at Maroon Lake, where many were fishing, water is so clear you can see them coming for the bait! You also could see a luminescent green algae, was really pretty, and unusual to a MI gal! The trail to Crater Lake was to the right, there were a couple of trails closed close to the water due to moose and bear activity (we visited late September), but the Crater Lake Trail was open. Three of us went - ages 51 to 58, our fitness ranges would be a 6 or perhaps 7 out of 10, all somewhat overweight, but active. Route is 1.8 miles each way. Had heard prior that the trail starts out steep, but levels out at the top - yes, key words there were "at the top"! All three of us confessed to thinking privately that we wouldn't make it to Crater Lake, but each of us did! Lots of breaks on the way up, thankfully there are plenty of rocks to rest at on the way. Scenery was stunning, looking at the colors popping from the aspen trees as the light green leaves turned brilliant yellow and contrasting against the dark green of the pines. Trail is EXTREMELY Rocky, wear proper footwear! We saw many people older than us making their way up, some used poles for stability. We brought plenty of water, and lunch to eat when we reached Crater Lake. The lake is at the base of the Maroon Bells, which still has snow even in Sept. Was well worth the climb, but the rocks on the trail were, challenging - watch where you place your feet. Would definitely recommend to anyone who can walk 4 miles easily, this will be moderately difficult for those in our fitness range, much easier for those in better shape. $10 per car Natl Forest fee per car. Bathroom facilities only at Maroon Lake. Took a total of four hours for us.

This trail enables one to penetrate a little into the mountains, away from crowded Maroon Lake. The path is rocky but easy to negotiate if one is reasonably fit/active, and Crater Lake is pretty.

I set off at 3:00 in the afternoon and I was back by 5:30. (I'm 64) Great view of Maroon Lake half way up. Just far enough away so you can't see the crowds walking along the lakeside. Crater Lake isn't that beautiful, but it is a pleasant hike, provided you stop to admire the view occasionally (ie catch your breath)

We went on this trail on September 23 and the fall colors were amazing. The beauty on this trail is amazing. The trail starts at Maroon lake and the view from the start of the trail of Maroon Bells is probably the best I have ever seen. The trail is about 3.6 miles and can take about 4 hours depending on how many pictures and how often you stop to catch your breath. The trail is moderate and rocky. Remember to take drinking water and rain gear. It is probably a good idea to wear hiking shoes or boots since it is very rocky. Crater lake is a good place to stop, take more pictures, eat lunch and rest before going back.

Beautiful scenery along your hike, welcome sight when you see you are close, breathtaking view when you come upon it, so serene and peaceful while there. We spent a good 20 min there alone. More rocky than imagined. Got a little tired maneuvering the rocks. A definite moderate hike.
