grande river vineyards & winery

We stopped by after drinking their wine at a local restaurant. Really like their Meritage Red, bought an entire case and had it shipped home. We returned home on a Sunday and wine was delivered Thursday. Staff was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable wine sommeliers. Well worth the stop, plenty of wines to choose from, staff treats you well. I world definitely visit this winery again.

We did their free wine tasting and got to try three at no charge, but when two taste you can leverage that into six by sharing, so you get a good feel for most of their offerings. We liked the Malbec and the Meritage, but the best was the 2010 Cabernet Franc. Very nice and friendly folks manning the tasting room. And their gift shop was nice. This should be on your list to visit if you are doing Palisade wine tasting.

Very nice winery with helpful staff.Wines from the western slope tend to be on the fruity side, but I had good wines previously from Grande Vineyards and wanted to visit the physical location. Everyone gets 3 complimentary tastings. The tasting area itself isn't very large, and it was a bit crowded that afternoon given that it was the same weekend as the Peach Fest.I'm a red wine person, but we walked out of there with a bottle of delicious viognier. I was a little disappointed I didn't find a good enough red, but I view this as expanding my palate. Given the large impressive entrance doors, I guess I was expecting something a little more "grand;" based on previous experiences at some other wineries, I had hoped to be able to purchase a platter of cheese, sausage, and bread or something to go with a glass of wine - you know, sit outside and enjoy the vineyard. But alas, it was a much quicker, simpler experience.GV is one of the larger vineyards in Colorado, and with their convenient location just off I-70, I recommend you stop by!

The winery is located close to the highway and the Wine Country Inn. The wine is very good and they have some cute gift shop items. If you want to try their full line of wines, you can pay $9.95 and you get to keep the glass, otherwise you can do the free wine tasting that has limited samples.

This winery had a great selection of wines, many with multiple rewards. I especially enjoyed their "havin' a cow" red wine!

This was our first stop on our wine tour. We enjoyed the tastings and the friendly service--some good wines. Cute gift items in a small space.

We loved going to this winery - the people there are so friendly, and the wine is fantastic! Our favorite is the Malbec! The winery is situated in the heart of the Palisade valley along with other vineyards and fruit orchards - just a beautiful place to spend the day!! It's great for a couples trip, or just a trip with your friends! If you're in the area, you have to check it out!

Randy was our pourmaster and he was quite interesting and knowledgable. We had tasting room to ourselves and enjoyed the sample tastes and conversation. Then a group of bikers came in, so we took our 2 bottles of wine and continued our tour. Got 2 very good wines and time well spent. Very convenient to I 70 also.

Really enjoyed this winery and the delightful wines they carry. Wish we could have stayed longer but it was close to the end of the day for us. Will definitely make it back when around town again! Must see winery!

One of the originals. I believe they make some of the wines for Wine Country inn. A good first (or only) stop..tho' Palisade has many great wine venues to offer.

I was not impresed with this winery and would not recommend stopping there. When I arrived the cashier was busy with a customer and another employee had to come downstairs to help me. She made me feel like I was interupting her work to taste their wines. The wines I tried were not very good. You only get three tastes for free, which is not much when they have approximately 10 different varieties. It is hard to find a bottle to buy when you only get to try three wines and they are all very different varieties and blends. Perhaps if I had tried more, I would have found one I liked. I went to another winery after that and they stated that you got five tastes for free and they actually ended up giving me eight tastes for free so I could try more of their wines. I ended up buying several bottles there because I found multiple ones I liked.

I have stopped by and/or made special trips when in Denver to Palisade for the tasting and purchasing of what I consider fine wine. I make annual trips in the fall September/October and have made it a must to visit Grand River Vineyards. Last September (2012) we were given a tour of the winery and were able to sample many of the different grapes used. This October (2013) I made it a special point to stop by and sample the different wines and in doing so left with 2 cases of Desert Blush, Reserve Merlot, Sweet Red & Tawny Merlot Port. For those who enjoy fine wines, it is a must to stop by and see what is being offered by Grande River Vineyards. Easy on/off Interstate access and a great place to share some time and be able to atke home some great wine.

you're limited in number of samples to 3 so you must choose wisely or pay for additional.I chose right and ultimately liked their Cabernet Franc the best.Staff was friendly even late in the day and offered up recommendations for restaurants as we had just hit town.

Enjoyed several wines in the tasting room of Grande River Winery, good tasting wines, We ended up buying wines and a bottle of infused olive oil and the artichoke pesto sauce,

We stopped here twice, first time earlier in the day we left without tasting.. Came back later in the afternoon after several other people mentioned we missed something. We bought one of their meritage but wasn't memorable like the others we bought here years ago.
