green mountain reservoir

Just by chance, we drove a few miles north of Frisco and Silverthorne to a little known reservoir called Green Mountain Reservoir. The extremely quiet road round the lake is such a delight in the late afternoon. A very relaxing and inspiring drive. Quite a surprise - this lake is never mentioned in any of the conventional tourist books or brochures. The grassy landscape reminded me of Scottish moors.

Heeney is a small town along Green Mtn Reservoir in Northern Summit County. Somewhat remote, so not crowded. Summertime 75 degree days, good for boating, wakeboarding, SUP, Windsurf, Fishing. Boat rentals at the Heeney Marina, camping in several locations around the lake.

The place is nice but the water is cold. Great views and good for camping parties. I've even found arrowheads, but leave them in place for others to enjoy.
