The Winery is a fun place to stop and taste the awesome selection of wines. The tasting room is lovely and has a nice gift shop. If you enjoy wine, you will find it difficult to choose from the wonderful varieties. Very enjoyable and a super friendly staff!

Every time we visit Canon City, we stop in the Abbey to taste the wines. It is a great place to stop. Each year the locals provide grapes for a vintage blend representing the available fruit. The blend is different each year depending on the growing conditions and what type of grapes are available. Ask about the history of the Abbey and how it came to be a winery. Very friendly atmosphere. Many different wines to taste. The wines are a bit on the expensive side. Free tasting.

We stopped in on our way back to Denver, thank goodness the toilets outside were not locked because we'd been in the car for 3 hours! The little shop is lovely with all sorts of cool things to buy. The wine tasting is free and they also had bread with oil & balsamic, crackers and pretzels on the bench to try. We liked one of the wines enough to buy it & also walked away with red wine & pepper crackers, balsamic and some spice mix. The staff were great, friendly & conversational.

Stopped in here - very interesting. Participated in a tasting and loved all of their wines. Great store loaded with lots of items. FYI - they ship to selected states so you don't have to consider ways to get it home safely.

Were in the area and saw the signs and while I really wanted a tour of the monastery, it was closed when we stopped. The gift shop was of course open, and had a lot of different products and we got bought several books and a bottle each of their Cabernet Sauvignon and a Blackberry wine which was quite good. Their tasting area was crowded with people who had no clue that others were wanting to sample a product as they just kept sampling everything and taking their time doing so. Fortunately the winery staff were experienced with this and had several staff members touring the shop and ground offering samples to those who couldn't get to the sampling counter. Nice stop and the bottles are really nice to display afterwards, and there are several shaded picnic benches and an area you can walk through the vines so even the kids had something to do. I've added a screenshot so you can see the variety of wines offered, they even have more that this actually, and the beauty of the bottles.

I used to live in Canon City and had never gone to the winery. Recently on a business trip, I stopped in over the weekend. The staff were friendly, helpful and answered every question I asked them. If you like wine, go visit!! It's such a neat experience. And the best part - almost all of the tasting is FREE!!

I am from Michigan. My husband and were driving through while on vacation When I saw the road side advertisements. It was a pleasant stop. Did some wine tasting and bought a case to take home for souvenir gifts. Especially love the wine made from local grape donations. What a great way to keep the community involved.

My husband and I had a couple of hours between zip-lining and our dinner reservation so we decided to stop here for a bit. Got to taste nearly all of the wines they offer free of charge. Found a couple that we liked and bought a bottle of each to bring home. The staff was all very friendly and knowledgeable about all of the wines. We even got to walk through the small vineyard after the tasting. Definitely worth a stop if you have a couple of hours in Canon City.

Visited The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey in Canon City, CO. Had an outstanding wine tasting session, which was free of charge and we got to sample a number of their wines. Very reasonable priced on their wines as well. Ladies explained the history of the winery and all about the process they go through and where the majority of the grapes come from to make the wines, which the majority are all locally grown. Wonderful tour provided, we will return the next time in Canon City.

I am in Colorado Springs for business and had a free day. We happened upon this winery and decided to go on up for a visit. WOW! We were fortunate enough to be there for their Fall Festival! What a treat!! The wine tasting was magnificent! The festival was unbelievably fun! AND.....we took a tour of the former monastery. It is an incredible building with so much wonderful history! It is an absolute shame that the owners will not put more effort into re-claiming this wonderful piece of history. We enjoyed the tour immensely! DO NOT miss the tour of the monastery while you are there! It is amazing! It was an absolutely delightful day!

We loved visiting the Wine Festival in September 2014. We were NOT able to purchase a glass of wine and it was very expensive for a 1-oz drop of wine. Then we found out, the exact same wine, made by Abbey at another liquor store is cheaper than buying it at Abbey, so from now on, we'll just buy their wine at the liquor store.

Fun taste testing.Wine is made locally but grapes grown elsewhere. No monks working there but servers were knowledgeable on the wines.

Great place for an afternoon wine tasting. We stopped there on a rainy Friday afternoon and were happy that we did. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and the wines were delicious. They only charged for the 3 higher end wines on their list, so the other 10 or so were free to taste. They also have a great little store and they do have Abbey tours on Saturdays.
