For our spring break. I really wanted to see that water on the stairs, but it was off and it looked like there was renovation going on in this area. The river was higher then what I seen in pictures and there was any railing on the walkways. We made the best of it. Because it had rained earlier and I had already had rainbows for my clan, we where able to slash around and have fun. I would really love to come back when it is warmer.
Highly recommend this area. ..spring and summer are always the best time! Music and open venue is amazing! Relaxing and serene! !!
Linking downtown on the riverfront with Chickamauga Dam, this riverwalk is a good place for a short - or longer - stroll along the Tennessee River. If you walk or run, look out for bicycles! it can get crowded on nice spring and summer days, and is used for recreation all year long.
I lived in Chattanooga for 3 years and had numerous opportunities to visit the Riverpark. It's not something I had in any other city I've been in and is really unique to the area. The Riverpark stretches a little over 10 miles from the TVA Chickamauga Dam into downtown Chattanooga. There are current plans to expand the riverwalk to around double it's current length also! It's the perfect place to walk, run, bike, paddle-board, boat, fish, etc. There's a continuous concrete path that's lit and winds through beautiful scenery along the river. Several bathroom facilities along the way as well. There's a boat ramp where you can drop off a boat or jetski and get right into the Tennessee River and there are always people fishing along the riverbank. Bring the kids along too! There is a great playground area with a large parking lot and bathrooms. Park rangers are always patrolling the park and there are 7 emergency call stations hooked up directly to the 9-1-1 center. I worked there for 3 years and we got the occasional call, mostly accidental or prank activations though - but park rangers were always quick to respond. If you hate exercising, go here and it will make it so much easier!
I have been to this place since my kids were small. It never fails to satisfy them. Skateboarding, bicycling, disc golf or just walking to enjoy the ambiance. During the summer the water spouts on the statue animals are a delight to the kids. I try to sneak in at times and get some water sprays on me as well!
Take an entire day or just a few minutes and you'll see something new and exciting on the Riverpark. Dogs were hiking while we walked; it was a convivial group of pets and people enjoying a glorious morning along the river and across the bridge. Runners, walkers, joggers, plodders -- we encountered every sort of mover and shaker in this excellent venue for everyone.
River, riverboats, fountain, a cosmopolitan downtown area, great food, accessibility to IMAX, museums, a glass bridge, and the Aquarium...not to mention a concert pavillion...what more do you want?
This is a perfect place for a walk with a family or a romantic stroll. Depending on the time of day and season, you will see the beauty of the water reflected in various ways.
We had a blast walking around the downtown area and riverfront park during July! Wow all of the water features, playground and nice walkways were so impressive. There were flattened boxes and my 7&6 year old loved "sledding" down the hill on those!
It was a Holiday morning and not everything was open while we were there. But still lots of artsy things to see and take in.
This is such a vibrant and invigorating walking and artistic place to visit, even in January. I can only imagine what it can bring to the soul in the vibrancy of spring and summer. Walking and jogging enthusiasts. will find nirvana. With the unique sculptures and views of the river, it is most peaceful.
Historic with quite a story. Go in the Spring or Fall for best views. Something for the whole family.
Wear sandals and bring some dry clothes for the kids! Wonderful experience!! A must see in Chattanooga! Water steps are beautiful so don't forget your camera!
would have liked to walked a bit of this with our dogs - but alas - no pets.......review is done for me.....looks nice!
Whenever I show someone around Chattanooga, I take them to this park, particularly to show them the awesome water steps near the aquarium!
