45 minutes of sitting in a 0 gravity chair in a chamber filled with Himalayan salt listening to relaxing music on headphones. Breathing in microscopic particles that helps heal your body. It's the best relaxing experience I've had. I've been back several times.
While I want to believe in the benefits of the salt cave, I'm still on the fence. It was a relaxing experience. Not a fan of the detox foot bath after coming home and researching to find out it's a bunch of yuk! Literally, cannot believe I fell for that one. Lesson learned. If I lived closer to the Salt Cave I would give it another chance.
The staff was very friendly and explained the items in the gift shop because we got there early. She was very knowledgeable. My friend and I entered the cave and didn't talk it was so relaxing. We both have terrible allergies and she has asthma. You can feel the salt filling your nose, throat and lungs. I felt things breaking up and even had to cough a few times. Did purchase a salt rock for my room and salt stone to help my granddaughter with eczema. We will be returning and shopping in the gift shop for Christmas gifts.
Serenity Salt Cave is located in Nolensville, TN--about a 20-25 minute drive from my home in Hermitage. I had never heard of it until I received a Deal Chicken offer for it and decided it sounded too interesting not to try it! A friend and I scheduled our appointment for last Friday and drove down, through beautiful green rolling hills of TN, to the location which is in a renovated home with two other businesses--a chiropractor and a hair salon. The staff person that day warmly greeted us, showed us the little room where you get ready to go into the "cave" room, explained the surroundings, and started the very short video that first-timers are required to watch. The video explains the benefits of breathing the Himalayan salt and the use of the room. The entry room has benches with little cubbies underneath holding blankets you may take to use, and a large trunk that the attendant unlocks for you to store your purses/valuables. She locks the trunk and unlocks it when you are finished. To preserve the integrity and cleanliness of the salt lined floor, everyone is required to wear these little plastic like disposable booties. They tell you that you can wear them over your shoes or your bare feet. We chose over our bare feet, but next time I will keep my shoes on and put the booties over them. Why? Because the salt on the completely covered floor is coarse like rock salt you use to make ice cream! Tender-footed people would not be able to walk on this. We had to walk slowly so as to not hurt our feet. The Cave Room----This is a beautiful room with the walls completely covered in pink and white mottled Himalayan salt bricks and natural form "rocks" of salt. The floor is covered with several inches of salt the consistency of rock salt. The ceiling has tiny twinkling lights all over it and there are several wall lamps. There is what looks like a "fireplace" with some of the larger salt lamps glowing. Soft music plays and a blower to move the salt crystals through the air are going on while you are in the room. Oh, there is a trunk in the room with extra blankets. Why the blankets? You will need them! It is chilly in there! We each got a blanket for over us, but decided next time (yes, there will be a next time!) since it was chilly, we would place a blanket over the chair, lay on that, then have one or two other blankets on top. There are about 10 antigravity chairs in the room, and they are very relaxing to recline back in. When you get settled in, the attendant sets the timer for your 45 minute session and dims the lights. Ready, set, RELAX!While in the room, you are told at the beginning "No talking during the session if there are people other than your group also in the room". If it's only you or your group, then you can talk if you choose to. Since it was only the 2 of us, we could talk but we only did for a few minutes then we both became so relaxed we both were basically dozing the rest of the time! When our time was us, the door was opened and the lights turned back up, but we could barely move from total relaxation. I kept yawning and just wanted to take a longer nap!In the main entrance area, they sell a variety of Himalayan salt products from lamps to salt bars/eggs/hearts to foot/facial treatments to salt you can grind for food and other items. In the end, I am so glad we went. My friend and I both agreed we would need a return visit. Our breathing was easier after being in the salt cave which is one of the benefits of these treatments. For me, the total relaxation was the best part of all. Before going to Serenity Salt Cave, I was concerned about just how much salt would be "blown" around, would it get in my eyes and nose and be uncomfortable. Well, no, you don't see or feel the salt particles. It would be the same as just breathing the air at the beach. It will definitely help your sinuses! My only wish is that a Serenity Salt Cave would be opened nearer to my home. I would definitely purchase one of the package deals and go on a regular basis.Do I recommend this place? Absolutely!
