This cool little museum seems to fly under the radar ... unfamiliar & perhaps somewhat intimidating to the average area suburbanite, DCCA is a great showcase for area artists and the arts. Located near the riverfront, it hosts great 1st Fridays, fab second Wednesdays & killer shopping at their seasonal arts shows & truck shows. This is where you find a hipper art scene vs. Delart.

Consistently produces current plays and readings by quality, sometimes name actors, rendered in a professional manner. I have never witnessed an amateurish production. The area is indeed fortunate to have--and to attract--such talent. I never miss a season.

Thought the musuem was larger with more exhibits. We were only there for about 1/2 hour and that was really stretching it out. Do not park in any spaces that are not marked for the museum or you will get a warning (like we did) not to park in the lot beside the museum.

The center was recommended by at staff member at another area attraction. He had told us that we would either love or hate it. We choose to ck it out as we are interested in a variety of art forms. The museum is not large so you might be able to spend an hour or so. Great location as its not far from the boardwalk area. We were able to park in their parking lot.The staff was helpful and even suggested other attractions nearby.Ok on to the art; we did not like it for the most part. But as the old saying goes: art is in the eye of the beholder.Actually the metal works and items for sale in the small gift shop were beautiful. Not sorry we went. And if/when we are in town again, I would visit the center again.

Great, small, FREE museum (those are my favorite kinds!) The various exhibits were colorful, wild, provocative, unusual, thought-provoking; yes, anything but boring. Listen to the other reviewers; leave the kids home! However, I do not consider anything I saw pornography; to me, it's ART.

Easy building to find with GPS with plenty of parking if you go on the weekend. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was easy to walk around. There was a neat outdoor exhibit one story high made with colorful plastic milk crates. That right there says why modern art is exercise for the brain. It shows the uniqueness of individuals to see the ordinary and turn it into something interesting or of their own perception. Inside there are just a few rooms which contain changing exhibits. Check the website for which artists are featured. We were lucky to see a very varied selection. The themes ranged from roadside accident memorials to minimalistic drawn people where you were to imagine what they were looking at or feeling. The artwork here challenges your thoughts, preconceptions and leads you to new questions. It is an interesting way to spend 45mtes of your time. Very friendly people working here and the gift shop has a nice little varied selection of original jewelry for purchase besides other artwork. There is no fee for this attraction; however, they do take donations and it is always nice to help support the arts. The day we were there they were getting ready for a wedding reception to be held in the large foyer which we thought was a good idea for an out of the ordinary place to eat, drink and celebrate a new marriage. Enjoy and have safe travels!

DCCA is a cutting edge local art center which has an interesting variety of art, some of it leaning toward the interactive. We enjoyed the imPERFECT City exhibit and wished we could be there for one of the town hall meetings. An exhibit titled Healing Sutras gave us a totally new perspective on the art of embroidery. A Kickstarter financed project on the analysis of garbage was quite impressive. The artist studios are open evenings on the first friday of each month as part of Wilmington Art on the Town festivities. This is a wonderful art incubation facility.

First off it is free. It is also small. Has wonderful ecletic pieces that you may hate or you may love. Wonderful space for emerging artists to showcase their work. Enjoyed it and look forward to going back to see new works. Wish they had an evening for adults only with alcohol and adult themes and classes. There were some nude pieces for you parents that don't want your kids seeing the human body in works of art. Took us about an hour and a half.

The area appears to be one that is being rejuvenated. The building is something of a sculpture itself. The installations change. The artists on view at this time were very interesting. I am not one for extreme modern art but could appreciate the innovative use of materials. I can appreicate there being a venue for artists who do large works that may not get access to museums in nyc. The set up and presentation of the works was excellent. Not sure it is a good place to take small children because they would be tempted to touch. Not sure significant space for wheelchairs. Good place for a date as it encourages conversation. Small gift shop needs to be expanded. Good place to go to just expand your horizons without over kill. Plenty of parking.Staff is layed back no pretention here, but warm if approached. No photography but handouts with pictures and bio on the artists. Good short stop for day trippers Hope the blinged out headless horse is still there when you go. A definit wow.

We have attended the family events that occur on weekends and have found the Center to be interesting and the activities to be worthwhile.

The Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts showcases the talents of Delaware artists. My sister has shown her artwork at several exhibitions. The DCCA also serves as the backdrop for several fund-raising galas throughout the year. Great restaurants in the area, especially Harry's Seafood Grill.

Went here for a reception in the evening. It's small, but very interesting. Would only take an hour to see, if you're in the area.

for anyone interested in modern art of all kinds using all sorts of materials, this is a fine place to be. it is highly supportive to regionally based artists, as well as offering classes, workshops and other events to the greater Wilmington community. it is a delightful venue, easy to find, plenty of parking and adjacent or nearby to other attractions that offer art in its more classical mode, as well as natural history, history and outdoor mini adventures.we just discovered this place and will be keeping an eye on future installations and events. it was worth the drive from our bucks county, pa. home.

DCCA offers lots of great stuff for kids (camps), adults (First Fridays) and all in between (what teen wouldn't like to see modern art, with its status quo challenging approach to life). Check it out!

The DCCA has 6 or 7 different exhibit spaces, and shows a range of contemporary art. Admission is free, location is great (2 minutes from I-95) and yet it's never busy when I visit. It also has a gift shop of handmade jewelry, ceramics, etc. Worth a stop when passing through Delaware.
