Rented some wave runners, they gave us a little test and then took us out to the riding area, they let us go for an hour . It was a fun time had by all. Would definitely do it again.
This was my second time parasailing. Both times, I had professional service with an amazing staff. We had 2 captains so I definitely felt safe. It was such a wonderful experience, I only wish I had more time.
i have been having my boat serviced at action watercraft for many years and i am always very satisfied
I recently purchased used jet skis and brought them here for service. Being new to jet ski ownership i was not aware of what service would cost. I found out after getting service done here that their prices are at least 40% higher than other jet ski service centers. I would reccomend that you shop around and get competitive pricing first. I wish I had.
There were a few young adults standing outside that said they would get us out on jet skis, they wanted us to do paperwork and then meet them back at 1 pm. We arrived a 1 and no one was there. We waited 10 minutes and decided to go to Sharks cove marina to parasail, which was awesome and managed a lot better than this company. I fear that action watercraft would have taken my money and ran. Avoid this place!
BEWARE!!! STAY AWAY!!!!!! STAY AWAY!!!!!!READ REVIEWS!!!!!I would like to start off by saying that my family and I have owned many boats over the years and we have always been on the water. We came to Action Watercraft because we sold our boat last season because we were not using it enough and wanted to rent a pontoon boat for the day. We got a rental for just under $300 for 4 hours. Everything was good when we got there, the receptionist was a nice lady who charged us for the boat. The individual showing us our boat was nice, but had the boat running when we got there. I noticed that it was not running well and was way under powered but I was not going to make a big deal about it. The boat was beat and was over 10 years old. As we were pulling out of the channel the boat was running rough, but we were going. We stopped, turned the boat off and dropped the anchor to eat a lunch. After about 30 mins of eating we wanted to cruise around a little more. We tried to start the boat but it wouldn't kick over. Before cranking it too much we called the company and asked what they advise before they try and blame anything on us. The gentlemen was extremely rude on the phone and said that we don't know what were doing and we are doing it all wrong. He walked us through some instructions of what he wanted us to do and while doing this it just stopped cranking all together. The rude man then proceeded to tell us that he was going to charge us an additional $60 to send someone out with a new battery. We told him that we went going to pay for that extra charge and demanded that he send someone out. A mechanic came out about 45-60 mins. later of waiting, he was a nice individual who tried to replace the battery but it didn't fix anything. He then proceeded to get us in the process of towing us in. When we made it to shore we went in and talked to the receptionist and she said the man in charge of the rentals refunded us half of our money back, but the rude man that we talked to wasn't there. We asked the women if she could send him up to the office so we could talk to him and get our money back. She was friendly and called the man on the walkie. We asked her if he was the owner and she said no he wasn't, but he was the highest in charge currently at the time. When the man walked in he proceeded to tell us that we were trying to start it the wrong way. He was extremely rude and was just demeaning the whole time. He said that he doesn't know what we could have possibly done to break there boat. We then asked if we could speak with the owner and he then proceeded to tell us that he was the owner. We then asked the receptionist if he was the owner and she said no he was not, then he told us that he was "basically the owner". We were so fed up that we decided to just take the half refund and walk away. There was no changing this mans mind, and we weren't going to waste anymore time being belittled by some rude gentleman. My advice is to stay away!!!!BEWARE!!! STAY AWAY!!!!
We brought three people to jet ski, totaling over $240 ~ not a cheap hour by any means. When we walked in it was total chaos! One family came in only to be told they were over booked and could they wait until later in the day...and then they would need to wait until they could get a jet ski from another location. Fotunately for the workers, the family handled it pretty well. As we leave the building to go to the jet skis they yell out don't forget to tip your guide. We go out to the jet skis, everyone gets on and the guide tells them they need to wait there until they can get another jet ski from another location for a second guide. After all said and done, they did not leave the plateform until 15 minutes into their alloted time. No other employee around but the guides. One mother asked the guide if they would get the full hour. He ignored her and carried on. To my surprise, they returned 45 minutes later, not the hour or even 55 minutes. Another scream of Don't forget to tip the guide...Upon return I walked in the office and asked their policy. I explained to the girls behind the desk what happened and they informed me that they have been having problems with one of the guides; as if that should pacify me enough to leave. As we stood there in awkward silence they finally asked if I would like to speak to a manager. While waiting, the employees called another family to rearrange their times because of scheduling conflicts. I knew I was in trouble then. When the manager arrived, he did not want to hear my side but right away told me they have been on time as he has been running back and forth. I left aggrevated and thought to myself what a gammet. While in the car driving home from jet skiing, we get a call from the manager stating that he does not want us to feel cheated....too late...we did....to come back the following day and he would give us extra time. Too Late again.....the kids were leaving that night to go back for high school. How about a 25% refund? Not a chance. Good luck if you choose this place because chaos and porr managemtn is the only Action your getting with their watercraft.
I was told we were going boating for an afternoon, and when we drove in the parking lot, I thought "oh no!! This is the place that gets the terrible reviews!" So my expectations were low. We had a lot of small children with us renting a pontoon boat, and right from the get go I could tell they don't have any customer senses. Why put a jet ski in the middle of the room with two big signs "do not touch" -- why? Just clear it out! And the poor cat there... the second I touched it I recoiled it had so much flea dirt and obviously was flea ridden. We showed up on time at 4:45 as they said we should, to get our jackets and oriented and pay for the boat which we were to rent at 5:00 - - we then waited 25 minutes on the hot dock for it to be returned by someone else and then gassed up. That's where expectations are important. Mine were low, but the guy on the dock "had no idea" when our boat was coming in - they have no one on the water making sure people come back on time or if they are safe or not. I don't know if there is another option than this place, but if there is, take it.
My husband and I decided to launch our small scow boat and explore the Delaware bays last weekend. Action Watercraft is at a perfect location so we decided to pay the $20 ramp and parking fee. When we returned at 6pm the ramp was locked and we were told "Sorry we closed at 4pm....didn't you read the sign?" This is coming from the the same guy we paid the $20 to at 1:30pm who conveniently failed to mention that they closed at 4pm. There is a sign outside at the ramp but neither one of us paid attention to it as it is right at the mouth of the ramp. After a back and forth exchange of accusatory statements of us not reading the sign my husband had to drive the to boat to another ramp downtown. We are both from Ocean City and continue to live and work here in management for a company that owns and operates 10 hotels and five restaurants in this town. We know a thing or two about customer service. This guy needs to go back to Hospitality 101 and learn how to talk and communicate to people. Is "Hey don't forget we close today at 4pm" too much to ask?? I was absolutely appalled at his demeanor and self righteous attitude toward us. Rest assured that you will not see this kind of arrogant behavior anywhere else in this town. Stay away from this business as there are plenty more boat rental companies that will bend over backwards for their customers. Not here!
I am writing this to warn everybody for coming summer vacation. My family spent whole week in the region last summer and rented a platoon boat from this place and the boat was in trouble from the beginning, as gear was slipping out on his own, and the staff had trouble starting. As I was going out the channel, following the boats in the front, our boat got stuck on the underwater sand not far from the dock. I called for help and he wasn’t going to advise me professionally and demanding that I should decide if I want his guy out to pull us or stuck there for entire time of rent. As I was trying to raise the motor to get the boat off from the sand, the gear was kept slipping and with my whole family on board, I couldn’t waste more time so, I told him to send the guy out and as if he was waiting for this, his first word is he will have to charge me for this, and I expected to pay some additional for this. The guy came out 15 minutes later and spent 3 minutes to pull us maybe 10 yard off from the sand. When we came back to dock, an employee who sent us out told me that low tide that afternoon is lowest in record and he was not surprised that we were stuck. But as soon as I was dealing with the owner on the counter, everything went very ugly as he didn’t care about my complaint of the boat being not in good condition and readily tells me that he won't return my $250 deposit for his guy to come out, just less than 1/5 mile from the dock for less than 5 minutes time spent. He was so arrogant that this is the industry standard and asked me to take him to court knowing I am from out of State. Next day, I went over to other boat rental places and they all confirmed that they had exceptionally low tide that day and told me they would not charge that kind of money, if any and reminded me many bad TripAdvisor reviews of this place, and I am adding one more here.
This past summer I had the pleasure of going to ocean city for the first time in a decade. While down there a bunch of my college buddies convinced me to rent a pontoon boat with them and spend the day out and about on the water. I was given the oh so wonderful task of planning the adventure, as they are all lazy bums, but I took to the internet and looked up different rental places. Action water craft was one of the first on Google and I called them up. The person who picked up the phone was both prompt and pleasant answered all of my questions, and trust me I had a lot of them as I am woefully ignorant about all things boats, and scheduled an appointment for me. When my buddies and I got there, everyone was quite smiley and got us set up and on the pontoon right away. When we came back everything was quite simple, someone was there to help us tie up and told us to stop by the office to finish everything up. I went back in and once again everyone was more than helpful, I had my deposit returned to me no problem and went on my merry way. I would RECOMMEND Action Watercraft to anyone interested in a fun day!
Called Action Watercraft in DE, spoke to Chadler who quoted rate for my children 17, 24 and myself 60 to go parasailing using coupon we had. Coupon was good after 6pm. She asked that we get there early and she would honor this coupon. After ariving there well before 6pm, Chadler had a case of amnesia concerning this rate that she quoted my daughter and I. She called a supervisor who lowered rate but still $30.00 more then this original quote. I politely said no we would not do this. Chadler continued to advise since we are cancelling she would still charge my CC. Not wanting to make a scene in front of my children we went parasailing. The parasailing was a cool experiece but the dealing with Action Watercraft was not and will never return.
The atmosphere was inviting, welcoming and the tour guys were great. Loved their personality. My husband I and I will definitely visit them again when we go back next year.
Read and pay attention to the bad reviews! I wish I had before I rented a pontoon boat from Action Watercraft!! The Arogant Owner, will steal your money!!! The boat was not working right, it was not steering properly and had very limited power, no anchor and kept tilting in the front and taking on water. There was an old crab cage in the water with no booie. The engine got a hold of this cage and just stopped. When we called for assistance, the owner told us to drop the anchor and get the crab cage off. If he came out would charge our deposit if he had to come out an get us!! We cannot drop an anchor if there was none on the boat. We jumped in the water and got the cage off the blade. We got the boat going, Then the boat tilted in the front and took on alot of water! Again, we called for help, 6 times! Scared for our lives and that of our daughter, we said enough of this and headed back to shore. Again the boat tilted and took on even more water! We finally made it back and the self serving owner Dave Miller said he was charging us full replacement cost for a new blade, because we damaged the blade. We asked, how can you charge full replacement on a used blade. A member of our party said, just sue him at which point the Owner told us he is now charging us the whole deposit because we threaten suit! Bad enough he already had our full rental costs of $291 for 4 hours had the faulty boat less than an hour. He said he wont be able to rent the boat out again because the blades were damaged. At this point he called the police to have us removed instead of talking with us. While we waited for the police, he rented our boat out and we watched it go back out to the water!!!!! So, now he has our full rental and he collected a second full rental on the so called damaged boat. He collected double rent, this was done within 15 minutes of us returning the boat. What kind of idiot deals with his customers this way? His water craft we were in was unsafe! Total disregard for the safety of my kid! He will steal your money! Total cost for less than an hour, $600! The Fenwick Island police told us they get called out to his place all the time because of this same so called "damaged the blade'. I accepted responsibility at first for the rusted damaged blade, but to take my whole deposit because some one in my group said to sue you was inappropriate and just down right shifty. Double renting the boat that he said was damaged by us, was also shifty! I will not only file suit, I will dispute the charges with my credit card company and will be telling any one and every one to stay away every chance I get.
We rented a Pontoon Boat for four hours and had no problems at all. The boat ran well and was comfortable for the family. We would rent from them again. There are spme specials at other Marinas for the four hour rate so do your due dilligence.
