While visiting family in MN, my daughter decided I needed to drive over to Rothsay to see the World's Largest Prairie Chicken. It is quite impressive! I look very small standing under it. There are many such objects of art in MN. It is a fun way to spent your time and make sure you take a picture standing by it to show friends and family! It is in a rural area, so there is not much else around it. There is a truck stop close by and they are in the process of building a school.

Okay, so I have lived in this part of the country for how many years and NEVER saw a Prairie Chicken in real life? It's a cute stop to get out and walk around, and you won't get too far behind schedule on your travels to or from Fargo. It's worth a quick stop. But don't forget to check out the dinner right across the street!

Rothsay the home of the prairie chicken, 14 years and counting have Not seen a real live prairie chicken in the fields yet. Maybe next year!

This is certainly not a destination attraction, but if you're traveling on I-94 and have either kids and/or a camera, decent place to stretch your legs. If you have no appreciation for Americana, drive on by. Personally, I love stuff like this.

We visited on Saturday, September 13, 2014. This is such a quirky attraction and that is what makes it fun. Very well cared for statue.

I don't know how a chicken statue can be 4 stars. It's just a statue nothing else there. If you need to stop and stretch on a long ride on 94 its something to look at but not worth the stop if not needed.

Traveling with kids, need to charge your camera/cell phone or a stop for a picnic lunch on your road trip then this is the place. This roadside attraction is FAR more than just a statue. The kids will be enthralled with the prairie chicken, you can set up the picnic lunch under one of the covered picnic shelters and you can plug in you electrics for charging at one of the AC units provided by the City of Rothsay. Don't have a picnic lunch along, then the truck stop and cafe across the road can supply the food. This rest stop beat many of the state provided stops we used in our drive from western Washington to eastern Minnesota. This is a real service to the traveling public, and deserves a sincere thank you to the citizens of Rothsay!

Tourist attractions are a little tough to find off Interstate 94 in Western Minnesota. It's mostly an agricultural area. But Rothsay is definitely worth a stop, if only to see this sculpture in a park right off the road.Prairie chickens have been known to wonder around in this part of the world, although the habitat is shrinking. These make a sound that is called "booming" because it can be heard for quite long distances, so some call them "booming" prairie chickens. In 1975, Rothsay became the "Prairie Chicken Capital of Minnesota." The community helped chip in some money, and Art Fosse built it. Nice job - unless you have to move the 9,000-pound object. Luckily, it doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Worth the detour, and it's just off highway 94. It's just a massive prairie chicken statue thing (MN has a thing for large statues of things). It's pretty funny and a good photo op.

cute to see! just off the interstate. The same exit as Ole and Lenas pizza restaurant.Otherwise not much to see than the big chicken

,what can you say about a huge Prairie chicken? Kids love to stop. Even though it is on the Interstate at Rothsay, it is an easy on and off so you won't want to miss it :)

It's a giant prairie chicken just off the interstate at Rothsay. It was fun seeing it once but it's not something I would stop to see more than once.

The detail of the bird is well done and considering the size was no easy task. It is a fun stop and worth the time to get there and to take a picture. It is reminiscent of "Babe" and Paul Bunyan for scale. Things like this are always good for a laugh.

In our never ending search for Minnesota’s many roadside attractions we made our way to Rothsay, MN. The chicken is just off the highway (and visible from the highway when heading East) and very easy to locate once off I-94. There is information about the prairie chicken and a plaque about the sculpture. It is a great stop for a photo op and there is a truck stop across the road where you can fill up and stock up on cold beverages! If you want a real treat, head into town for some Ole & Lena’s pizza. It is the best pizza this side of Minnesota.

Great because welive in Rothsay, and helped to participate in the building of the bird as it was build by Art Fosse in his truck shop.
