Great place to meet up with friends you don't see often. So much to do and great restaurants. The bar so much fun on a Saturday watching the Karaoke, always a good time. We went at boxing day this year and had a blast. Great blend of entertainment, food, pool and shopping near by.

I travel every year, in September, to the Shooting Star on a shopping/casino trip with a large group of girlfriends. I have reviewed this place in the past and my number one concern was the cigarette smoke. This year we found wonderful updated bedrooms with fridges and microwaves. The new touches were not unnoticed. However the cigarette smoke in the casino was beyond terrible this year. We could not stay in the casino or in the bar because it was so pungent. I don't smoke and I don't preach the non smoking patch. It is simply my choice but good grief there has to be something to be done. Yes there is a non smoking area stuck off in the forbidden zone but the lounge should be for everyone. The upgrades were fantastic- Good Job! The air filtration is non existent. I will be back but I will not be spending a lot of time or money in the casino if it is the same.

I'm not a smoker, but I really like casinos. Unfortunately the two seem to go hand and hand. I've been a member of their players club there before but didn't get any comps...I guess I'm not a big enough loser :)

The casino is dark and smokey - like many. There's a moderately good mix of machines. There are other MN casinos I like much better (Hinckley, Mille Lacs, and Black Bear).

looked at web site under poker.drove 1oo miles to play poker.4 players.got there and found out we had been lied to.we left not one cent at shooting liers.will never go back there.

I had had a bad experience a long time ago but decided to try again and had a fabulous time. Everything was great....concert, room, food and had a blast on the slots (didn't win but it was lots of fun)

We had a few problems with the room, jet tub, maintenance made sure we were well taken care of and had a new room for us within minutes. Food in 2one8 was fabulous, prices were well within the product you received. The clam chowder was flipping awesome, would love to have their recipe. Had a massage and Summer was excellent. Our night was great and would love to do it again. The only complaint was the payout. Bonuses were minimal and payouts were also.

Room was awful, overpriced. Show was great, food prices were very high, especially the buffet, did not eat there.

The casino was kept clean & the staff were very friendly. There was a lot of smoke, but that is to be expected in a casino. Would have liked to have had better ventilation. Overall, very good time there!!

We go every year on a girl's weekend trip of gambling and shopping in Fargo. The best things are the customer service. Everyone always has a smile. The food in the restaurant is always good. This past weekend we found the payouts to be dismal. On a large bus full of people there were hardly any winners? As well, as noted in another review there were very few tables open to play black jack. This is the first year that I didn't play one single hand. My biggest complaint is the cigarette smoke. This year it was unbearable. We were back in our rooms very early with head aches and burning eyes. I don't smoke and I don't care if others smoke. This was simply overwhelming. I'm not sure if the air purifiiers were not working or what the problem was but boy oh boy it was awful. We mentioned it to several staff and they stated that they were getting many complaints over the weekend so I am hoping that there was a problem that can be fixed. We will go back next year and we will have a great time again and hopefully one day the casino will become non smoking....I will not hold my breath.

After many years or loyalty to business no longer will set foot in establishment. Their policy of refusing to refund a bill jam has brought me to the point of no return. Their thinking it was funny to rip me off led me to throw my drink at machines to force them to open them. Because of this I continue to receive extortion letters from them demanding 250$ to pay damages. When I ask for itemized bill they refuse, I am now seeking restraining order to stop their mailing of these letters. Since I'm local to this area have found other casinos who would never resort to their greedy tactics, and have much better pay outs on their machines.

Went to Shooting Star on Sunday Sept 1, 2013. One table in high stakes room ($10 minimum) and 2 tables in main casino open. Pit boss informed me there would be no more dealers till 4:00 (this was about 2:30) Labor Day weekend with only 3 blackjack tables open. Many people standing around waiting to play.

Love this place--reminds of "downtown" Vegas. The band above the bar, clean bathrooms, pretty dang good buffet and friendly service. These guys have it going way up here in the Northwoods.

Had to plead for a room even though I had tickets on friday and tried to get a room by phoning several times with no luck. ate at 2 for 8 Its was good. Restaurant wsa good too but buffet nees a new menu.Always the same.

I have been to this casino numerous times and I find that it is fair and that you can win, which I can't say about other area casinos.I am a member of their slot club, which is free to join, and while I am not a big time gambler, I always get a mailer every month or so with offers, including free slot play, discounted hotel rooms and meals. On my most recent visit, I was even given a blanket as a birthday present!The casino has over 1100 slot and video poker machines, as well as a poker room for those hard core gamblers. It also has a fairly large non-smoking section with its own separate entrance, so if you have difficulty with smoke, they can accommodate you. However, the non-smoking section has older games and no video poker machines, but the atmosphere is nice and quiet.While they have two areas where you can get free drinks (coffee and soda), they also have staff that come around every once in a while to offer drinks where you are gambling.Overall, I have always liked gambling at the Shooting Star Casino, as I find the machines are fair, and that's all anyone can ask for.
