Camden State Park is little more than a hole in the earth. This hole, however, happens to hold a remarkably beautiful State Park. This little gem is about 15 minutes south of downtown Marshall. Its acreage is not vast, but the design of the parks roads and camping/picnicking areas is masterful. There is a small lake with a swimming beach that is perhaps the best in the region. The hiking trails are well marked and vary in length and difficulty. If you want to hike or bike, be sure to bring your bug repellent with you when visiting between late June and September.
I came to Camden State Park to hike the Hiking Club Trail here. The hike began right at this amazing swimming area that says it's spring fed. It was clear, cool and refreshing. There were many Nuns in the park when we came through. It seemed like a wonderful place for them to meditate and pray. The hike was an awesome trot through the woods along the indian creek where we saw tons of deer. It had a great overlook of the Redwood River Valley. A park that I will definetly return to. I'm sure it looks amazing in the fall.
