When in morristown , visit this landmark . A great NPS that gives a quick junior ranger badge for your scouts I have 2 kids, and they actually enjoyed this place. Rich in history, this place will not only appease Washington historians, but all who have interset in this period of time. The great artifacts from the past and simple presentations, make it fun and easy to enjoy

Visited the other day after an absence of many years, and was amazed at how well the Parks Service has done in presenting a historical context for Washington's stay in Morristown. Definitely worth a visit?

Great museum with lots of historical displays, good house tour. Ties to other local historical sites. If you are a senior, you can get a card for free entrance to most any national park.

If you like US history - especially the revolutionary period - you will love this park centered around Washingtons headquarters

we got there at opening and were given tickets for the first house tour of the day. we walked around some of the displays until it was time to see the house. bathrooms are in the basement of the museum building. there is an elevator next to the bust of george washington. the tour of the house was very informative. this is one case where george washing really did sleep there. not really suitable for people in wheel chairs. there are old wooden stairs to climb in the house. one staircase is rather narrow. people with mobility issues might have a hard time. lovely house and property. there is a great george washington statue across the street.

We got to the museum at 10:15 and was able to get tickets for the 11am tour of the Ford house. They only allow 20 on the tour. Tours were running at 10, 11,1,2 and 3.The museum had a good movie 30 minutes and a good set of displays. The movie is a good intro to the history and helps to understand the other parts of the area such as Jockey Hollow. The Ford Mansion had interesting displays of what it would have been like during that time. Anyway go to the museum first. Inexpensive $4 Good value.

If you like history, you need to see the collection of artifacts and see the location that was headquarters during the worst winter of the war. The tour is only 30 - 45 minutes, is an easy walk, and is very informative. The museum has several rooms and an excellent collection of historic "pamphlets" and other items of the time.

Great tour from the park ranger of the Ford Mansion! Very informative and you feel as if you are back in time. Amazing to know you are walking in the footsteps of George Washington. The museum is small but pleasing!!! The mansion and museum is a perfect way to spend a couple of hours.

Part of Morristown National Historic Park, the Ford Mansion served at Washington’s headquarters while the Continental Army encamped nearby at Jockey Hollow during the winter of 1779-80. The grounds and building are well preserved and beautifully maintained. Inside, the mansion is well furnished with reproductions as well as some original furnishings. The mansion can only be entered as part of a tour but fortunately they occur frequently, on the hour, every hour from 10am to 4pm except for the noon hour, 7 days a week. Tickets are first come, first serve and purchased at the bookstore inside the adjacent museum. Our guide was very knowledgeable and the tour was quite good and interesting. The adjacent museum has some interesting Washington artifacts but is relatively small and also serves as the park’s primary visitor center with a bookstore, restrooms and a theater showing a 30 minute park film. Somewhat unusual for a colonial era building, flash photography is permitted inside the mansion and while photography is permitted inside the museum, use of a flash is not permitted. Getting here can be quite confusing with the one-way roads; depending upon the direction one comes from, one may need to exit the freeway, drive through town, hop back on the freeway only to exit immediately on the next exit and merge across a couple of lanes to take a quick left-hand turn; fortunately, the GPS showed the way without error.

I love visiting historical sites, especially where people once resided. Reading about it isn't enough. You have to literally put yourself in the environment to appreciate the sacrifices our forefathers endured. A must see! Admission is $4 per family, which is paid at the museum. Look throughout the artifacts and watch the movie before the tour guide sets off to the Ford Mansion. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. Then, head to Jockey Hollow to see the huts that the soldiers built and lived in during the harsh winter. It's truly amazing. Don't forget to visit the Wick House. A man manages the site just as they did back in the late 1700's, and wears the same type of clothing, too.

He did indeed. This was Washington's headquarters during the Revolution. A great place to visit and experience what life was like back then.

Take the house tour, see the movie and tour the museum. Go south six miles to Jockey Hollow. Stop by Fort Nonsense for the views.

Headed to Morristown one morning alone and decided to check this place out. I was the only one there so I had a private tour and the history behind it was pretty amazing. They have some genuine artifacts from Washington himself which is definitely cool. Overall good place to visit.

check ahead for hours and to make sure it's open. There are 2 buildings with some interesting artifacts. Yes- Morristown was the military capital of the Revolution, and there is a lot to see!

This is a interesting place to visit because it is a place where George Washington spent a good portion of time and it has a couple artifacts in the house that George and Martha actually used during the time at the house. Seeing those kind of artifacts is kind of neat even for the kids. I thought the ranger could have done a better job with the tour and hopefully it is better for other visitors. It is worth doing if you are in the area because it is right there with the museum.
