We are somewhat disappointed with public golf courses in pace of play and course condition. We felt we were at a private club at Paako Ridge. The pace of play was excellent, we were neither rushed or slowed by other players. The course was in excellent shape. Greens were fast. The course was as challenging as you could want it to be.They claimed it was the best course in NM and I couldn't argue with that assessment.
Played PaKoo yesterday with a local first timer, a graduate student from Westchestet PA, and a semi retired ? From Durango CO and Coastal CA who had Memberships at several private clubs throughout US! They all spent the day marveling at the course, on all levels and from all Tee Boxes. It is one of the most incredible Golf Courses anywhere in the US and the semi-remoteness only adds to the beauty ! Bring an extra sleeve, a camera, a jacket(weather changes QUICKLY), and a degree of humbleness that will allow you to move up one box from what the yardage and altitude would normally indicate. Drink plenty of water , use sunscreen, and remember at this altitude each libation counts as one and a half. INCREDIBLE
Beautiful high desert layout. Well kept course. Reasonable price. Great views. Attentive staff. Loved the golf.
Yards you will fill your boots, if you choose to play from these tees. Big and tough. T shots look more intimidating than they really are. This course will test you. Enjoy. Would be nice to go back and play the other combinations of nines we played 10-27
Outstanding course layout and conditions. Lives up to it's billing as a must play. Would have been 5 star but for the rude pro who forgets his job includes serving the patrons. Excellent burger from the grill on the patio makes the day complete.
I visited Paa-Ko Ridge over a 4 day weekend golf trip. We played 99 holes over the 4 days and being my first visit, I will definitely return again. The course has 3 nines, 1-18, I believe was the original course, and 19-27 was built later over slightly different terrain. We caught amazing weather for August with highs around 80 degrees and no wind. Positives: Amazing course with wonderful vistas of Sandia Peak and surrounding valley. Course was in excellent shape. Rates were excellent considering promotions and replay rates. Full rate was $117 with a $30 replay rate on the same day. We also were able to take advantage of twilight rates our first day and a promotion where we payed for 2 rounds and the 3rd round was free!! The altitude and elevation changes make golf super fun - I hit multiple 400 yd drives and was hitting my PW from 150 yards!Negatives: Bring plenty of balls! Due to the mountain desert terrain, if you hit a ball far offline you will not find it or even want to look for it because it will go into the thick desert brush. Course can be tough for the average golfer and because of the difficulty, pace of play can be slow. Overall, if you play golf around ABQ or plan to visit NM, this is a MUST PLAY!!
Well worth the drive out here. Have played most courses in the ABQ area and this is by far the best. We played PAA-KO and Twin warriors this same weekend and we would come back to Paa-no every chance we get. Greens are pretty tough. This course is playable for most golfers but it will test even the most talented.
Loved the views. Greens were in excellent condition. Weather was cooler than most days and perfect end to our golfing tour in NM.
The golf coarse was very good but the golf Marshall was yelling at folders for NO reason...no other groups were behind these guys and he was just going off about nothing! We heard him several tees over...really need to get rid of that guy...even his own staff says he goes on and on being rude to players on the coarse for no apparent reason.
Good service, great condition of the entire golf course and good food in the restaurant makes for a great day. Drove down from just north af Santa Fe. Well worth it. Best I have played in New Mexico so far. Will return.
I was recently in Albuquerque and took the opportunity to play a round of golf at the Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club. The course continues to get better and better each year. I had had the opportunity to play the course quite a few times and I enjoy it more every time! The course conditions are excellent with the greens in great condition. The tees and fairways are also excellent. I feel the course has matured to such a point that it has become one of the very best in the southwest. The staff and course attendants are helpful and friendly, the clubhouse and pro shop excellent, it has become a First class facility. Also, I can always feel great about my round when I birdie the 18th. Highly Recommend, an outstanding experience!
Paako Ridge Public Golf Course is magnificent. The experience from the moment we stepped out of the car at Bag Drop to the last drop of beer was unbelievable. The course suits both the golfer and the outdoorsman-bring your camera, good walking shoes and enjoy the day. Be sure and listen for the birds.
Recently took a group of 16 to Paako ridge and the experience was incredible.David Moffitt and his entire team did a magnificent job of taking care of us and thegolf course is unbelievable. If you are planning a trip to New Mexico for golf, you cannot miss Paako Ridge and the team there, you will be blown away.
Never seem to get around this side of the mountain to golf until recently and was I pleased I did. This is just one beautiful golf course. It has rained pretty well in the past week or so and there was barely a brown spot to be seen. Being in the mountains, the temps were 6-8 degrees cooler than Albuquerque, which is good as it was near 98 in town. All my friends said to bring plenty of golf balls and I am glad I did. However on hole 14 or 15, we were a bit held up and went looking for my errant tee shot. In about 5 minutes, we found 18 golf balls, so we actually ended up net ahead on golf balls for the day. The bunkers all seemed to be hard packed and I am not sure if that is by design or nature. Course design is great with lots of spectacular views incorporated into it.There had been a tournament the morning we were there (we had a 1PM tee time) and it had things a little slow as it wrapped up, but with 27 holes it was not bad. Our weekday rate was $89, but by 2, the twilight rate kicks in and is 20 or 30 cheaper. In the summer, you can easily get through a round and still have plenty of light if you start at 2. The carts do not have GPS which I considered odd for the price here, so bring your iPhone app. They let us go out as a twosome, so that was also nice. The course is probably no more than 30-40 minutes from town, so it is not hard to get to and it a nice drive to boot. I will certainly be back and highly recommend.
What a beautiful golf course and 27 holes to boot! This course would be challenging for most anyone. The fairways and greens were in good shape. Rate for 18 with Cart is $114 before 2, $59 after. The folks in the pro shop couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating. Restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating so you can watch the action of other golfers. This is a public course with a country club feel (in a good way).
