I took my wife, children and grandchildren for horseback riding here. There scenery was amazing. The people were fun and professional. I've owned 13 horses and these horses were in great shape and well cared for. The ride was less money than other stables, I had young children to people in their 60's. Every age had fun and wanted to do it again. We went uphill, through the forest, out in the open, over a small stream, and took in a great overlook. Highly recommended.
Logan was a great guide and was knowledgable of the area. The horses were great and were more than capable. We went through all types of terrain - from small muddy trails in the woods, mountain tops and roads. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an affordable activity that is safe and exciting. Beautiful views of the snake river. Call now and make reservations.
As far as I can tell, this is the best option in the Jackson area if you want an intimate experience for your family, rather than being in a long train of horses. Our friendly but nonobtrusive guide led our family of 4 (15-year-old and 10-year-old) up the road for about 15 minutes, but the rest of the ride was up trails to a high ledge with views of the valleys on either side (nice, but a bit disappointed we couldn't really see the tetons). The best part was the relative freedom/control we had of our well-trained horses. None of us had significant experience with horses, but were given instruction and horses that were easy to ride. By the end of the 2-hour ride, we all felt very comfortable on our horses and had had a great time.
A great time with Logan as our guide. My 17 year old cousins first ride. She had a great horse and excellent instruction. Only down side was our butts were sore. Entirely worth it.
Thank you for your input but we are a little confused with your review. We have 3 riding mules they are very gentle, sure-footed, smooth gaited and great to ride in the backcountry. Our mules do well at camp and go on most pack trips either being ridden or packed with gear. We have had guests ask if they can ride a horse instead of a mule and they are given a horse to ride and we have also had requests to ride a mule. As for the other trip that was in camp (2) gentlemen on a fishing trip were riding horses and were no relation to us. The part about only family ride horses is not true or correct. My cousin and her family did ride into camp for a night stay but they were riding their own horses on an unguided trip. The latrine we have is a canvas tent set up with a wooden box that has a toilet seat on it over top of a deep hole dug in the ground. (outhouse) It is the best we can do in a remote backcountry camp with no running water or plumbing. The tents that are on our website are the ones used in camp. A few of the tents are near new and others have some wear on them but still in nice shape as are the cots and sleeping pads. All tents are covered with a sheet of plastic to keep them dry from the rain. This is a backcountry camp but we do put a lot of effort and time into making sure we offer a nice comfortable camp. We only advertise our pack trips on our website and we don’t have a brochure with a picture of our camp. Not sure what was meant with camp not looking like the brochure. This is not true because it is a exact picture of camp. Sorry for any confusion on how you thought the trip was advertised. It is important to us that everyone has a nice and enjoyable trip with us. Thank you.
I was nervous about riding after being off a horse for so many years & issues that make getting on & off horse scary for me. But all the people there were SO pleasant, reassuring and helpful with the on and off! And guide was helpful, patient, informative & upbeat throughout ride. Read the other review of going down side of road & above Snake River: we did the 2 hour ride & ours started out & ended on that stretch too, but in between went up & back down side of a mountain that had awesome views. Overall definitely recommend; especially due to fantastic staff.
First timer to Jackson Hole and this horse trail ride beginning at Willow Creek trail head. Nate, our Lead was a very capable guide, he knows his horses and the trail. Great value great fun!
My 2 teenage boys and myself had a great time on our pack trip. It was just the three of us and the 2 wranglers. The ride in on horseback was wonderful and Logan was very knowledgeable about the area.. The camp site over looked a creek. Logan took the boys down to the creek and fished for trout. The meals were prepared fresh and were very good. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this group of people. From booking our trip to the communication before our trip was great. The boys are hunters and enjoyed the experience so much that they are going back for a hunting trip. The supplied everything for the trip, even the fishing poles and bait.Is a wonderful experience for a family, friends, or any kind of group. Thanks for everything guys.
We had a terrific time on our 2-hour ride. I've only ridden twice before and I asked for the 'oldest, calmest' horse they had. I was presented with Jake who was the sweetest most patient horse, he knew exactly what to do and stayed so calm no matter what I said or tried to do! Cody, our guide was knowledgeable and fun. The group was kept small so we all felt comfortable. I didn't realize we'd actually climb to the top of a mountain! What a great adventure :)
Both my wife and I had a great time on our horseback ride with A-OK Corral! The two hour adventure was just the perfect horseback ride... The scenery was fantastic and our guide, Nate was very friendly, professional and made sure each of us were comfortable with our horses. The horses were very well trained and Nate made the trip more interesting and fun with his vast knowledge of facts regarding the landscaping, wildlife and history of the area. We would highly recommend this horseback adventure to all.
We had a really wonderful time on a 2 hour ride with A-OK Corral. We are not horse people, but everyone made it very easy for us. My youngest daughter who is 10 had Big Dan who was so gentle she had a ball. The horses are so well trained which was so great for us city folk. It was a really cool ride into some back country which was just one more way to view the beautiful area. Our guide Cody was so perfect for our family and fun to ride with. We'll probably come back to Jackson again when the girls are older - I've dubbed the trip the ultimate family vacation - and A-OK will be on the agenda again for sure!!!
We loved our ride. The scenery was beautiful and our guide, Nate, was excellent. The horses were great. Next time we would like to take the overnight trip. Highly recommended to anyone who loves adventure!
We had a WONDERFUL time on our horseback ride with A-OK Corral! We took a two hour trip and it was just perfect! We saw many beautiful sights including the mountains, a lake, wild flowers, moose, elk, and a very cranky mother prairie hen! It was fantastic. The horses were beautiful, friendly and well broke. They were sure-footed and new exactly what to do on the trails even when climbing! My son was a new rider, but felt very much at ease on his horse, "Blondie". The rest of our family of five had some riding experience. We all enjoyed our day. Our guide, Logan, was great! He told us all about much of the plants and wild life as we rode and he stopped at the top of a mountain to take pictures of each of the members of our group on their horses. These will be added to our memory book! I would definitely recommend the A-OK Corral to anyone wanting a horse back trip. We would love to go back again some time!
Great experience both times. My daughter and I came out a few years ago to Jackson and she Really wanted to go on a horseback ride. This was only second time on horse for both of us. Our guide was very friendly and professional. You have to trust your guide tour they will guide you and take great care of you. We were close to Jackson again on this trip and without second thought we jumped at the opportunity to go with this company again on our trail ride. Once again very friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend them.
Sorry to hear your family was not satisfied with your horse ride at the A-OK Corral. It is important to us that all riders have a great horse riding experience. Our one hour ride is a ride geared towards young riders and nervous, inexperienced beginners. The ride is a half hour out and back on flat ground paralleling the Snake River and Old Henrys Road. Our 2 hour and longer rides are more for riders wanting to go up the mountain through the trees and have the high mountain views. We do feel we have a ride for all ages and levels of riders. If you are ever back in the Jackson area we hope you will give one of our longer rides a try. Thank you from the A-OK Corral management.
