There's restaurants, bars, shops and a longhorn steer parade with Cowboys on horses. Some historic sites and museums- it was a pleasant day!
Music, plenty of Texas long horns, hats T shirts, boots, hot sauce and more. Cowboys in costume will have a gun fight at 1 pm. Mechanical bull to ride Texas beer and candy. Fun got the family. Kids activities cost extra. Plenty of places to eAt. Finish your day with a visit to the Rodeo starting at 8 pm at theHistoric Cowtown Coliseum.
Fantastic! What a way to get a true authentic feel of Texas! This was a fantastic show, only wish it was longer than 2 hours. We went on the Friday night and would definetly go again maybe even tomorrow night!!!! Great night
It was a hoot to watch the Longhorn parade and check out the stockyards. Lots of options for shopping and some neat places pretty close to grab a beer
It is a staple when visiting Fort Worth. 11:30 am and 4 pm, cowboys heard a group of longhorns down the main drag. It is worth while to see. There are some beautiful shops with price tags to match. There are good western shops. A couple restaurants that have live music. There are some very quality restaurants in the area. There is a train that you can take around the area, horse back riding, and petting zoo. A rodeo that happens on Friday and Saturday for a set time period.
Totally on the touristy scale, but fun complete with a longhorn cattle drive down the street and a John Wayne gunfight.
I give this five stars because it's not a Disney creation, it's not a theme park....it's a way of life. You get to peak in the window, and walk the streets, but this is a place of historical significance. The Chisolm Trail began here I believe and they recreate the scene rolling cattle thru town. Those are real cowboys not actors hanging on yo a lifestyle that was revered here. Great local bars and eateries and very good shopping, especially Leddys for upscale western wear. Great afternoon and adult evening at some good honky tonks. Come on out
We took two grand daughters....7 & 9 years old.....for a day at the Stock Yards. Nice day trip.....pictures on a longhorn, petting park with lots of animals to feed, longhorn cattle drive, shoot out with sheriff and the bad guys, Wild West show, shopping and a good lunch. We had a lot of fun and would highly recommend. Probably a stretch for teenagers.
This was fantastic place to visit.. a real cowtown surrounded by real american out west culture.. There was always something on.. super shopping etc. great eateries ... Very family oriented
A small cowboy and cowgirl town. Everything is expensive here. I felt that this place is a little too commercialized. I met a couple of people from San Angelo. They told me authentic and true cowboys and cowgirls are from places like there. They even said that the rodeo is amateurish. But a nice place to stop by and have a look in Fort Worth.
If you go to Dallas or Fort Worth, make sure you stop by the Stock Yards in Fort Worth. Stop by on a Friday or Saturday afternoon, so you can shop, ( prices not bad on western wear ) and then you have the option of going to dinner at one of the restaurants close by, and seeing the rodeo at the Cowtown Colosseum. The rodeo is held every Friday and Saturday at 8 pm. The rodeo is held in doors, so weather is not an issue. After the rodeo use your ticket stubs to get into Billy Bob's Honky Tonk
A short ride from downtown, this place is a great place to spend a few hours exploring historic Fort Worth. Try to time your visit with the long horns cattle drive down Main Street. You can have your picture taken sitting on a long horn. There's a small charge but it's fun and worth it. Some of the shops carry very nice, high end western-ware and decor. It's also a great place to pick up a souvenir.
The Stockyards has a little bit of everything for visitors to Fort Worth. There's shopping, site seeing, fun for the kids, concerts, and tonnes of other things. Plan a whole day here.
We really enjoyed the rodeo! It was very entertaining! The calf roping was fun to watch, and the bull riding put us on the edge of our seats! The only bad part is that ithere were not assigned seats, so come early for good seats!! We were late, so had to search for seats, but we could still see the rodeo fine. It was a great experience for our first rodeo!!
I am not much of a cowgirl but the stockyards in Forth Worth are worth the visit. There is a long-horn cattle drive every day at 11:30 and 4. Very cool to see. If that doesn't work with your schedule, you can see the Longhorns behind the exchange building. Lots of shopping. Billy Bob's is an absolute must see at night. Live music, lots to see and do, and bullriding in their facility every Friday and Saturday. White Elephant a very cool, traditional bar. H3 has good food.
