Great place to go for a long hike. Be sure to take a picnic lunch. This is the perfect place to eat and relax. It's wonderful for families too.

Enchanted Rock is the perfect hike - not too steep and what a view from the top! You can also follow trails around the rock - and limited camp sites are available. Day use fee applies, but if you have a state park card, you're in free by the carload.

The view is beautiful and it's just a spectacular place. Remember to go in the morning, if you go during Summer

Everyone must go at least once. Its a place of beauty and wonder. Take plenty of water and good hiking shoes!

Enchanted Rock is well worth the change of pace from Fredricksburg. A short 20 minute drive out of Fredericksburg will bring you to a place where you can stretch your legs more than going from store to store! We enjoyed the hike up to the summit, which required a couple of stops to catch our breath, but, was worth it. Nice view up top in all directions. Look for the marker on top.

My husband I were in Fredericksburg for our 10 year anniversary and were told this was a MUST SEE. After our trip was over we packed the car and headed to Enchanted Rock as a last stop before we headed home. It is a bit of a drive but anticipated it was well worth the trip. However, we were completely wrong. We drove 20 or so minutes to be told the park had reached capacity and we could not enter. We sat there for about 10 minutes and watched about 10 cars leave. So we went up to the gate and were told it would be a 2 hour wait before we could enter. We explained we lived out of town and this was our last stop for our anniversary, and we have been watching cars leave. She was rude and stated they had to wait for 150 people to leave. Very disappointed with the poor set up they have to accommodate people.

It was my second time there but nothing beats the feeling of success as you ascend this huge rock to get to the top and look at the beautiful scenery all around. It is something I would recommend to everybody to try. It is like a huge playground with boulders and tunnels and water. I also really enjoy the hike around the perimeter with time permitting. And of course...if you have a state park pass, entrance is free!!

This is an easy, enjoyable hike. Lots of picnic tables and parking BUT there was a line out onto the highway to get into the park, which was daunting. Once in there seems to be plenty of parking. On a pleasant weekend probably a good idea to call and check ahead, other visitors told us sometimes the park closes.\Would recommend heading over to the Loop Trailhead, less than 3 miles to the rock, and the trail is much less traveled, with great views along the way. The Echo Canyon Trail is more difficult, not good for the very young or old.

Enchanted Rock is a great place to visit, but to truly enjoy it you need to be ready for a steep climb!! It doesn't look like a big deal to get to the top of this awesome rock, but look forward to about 30 minutes of steep/straight up climbing. There are also little unexplored caves that are doable at the base, but very tight throughout, I was able to go through many, at 5'1" 115 LBS, but my husband at 5'9" 210 LBS, couldn't get through them. The park is nice, well maintained and kept on a very natural state.

I was excited to see they allow dogs in the park! Your dog must be on a 6-ft leash. It was so much fun hiking with our two dogs, we would definitely do it again!

We had been to Fredericksburg one other time and heard about Enchanted Rock. This time we went with some friends and we all decided to hike to the top of Enchanted Rock on a Sunday morning. It was a day or so after a 5" rain (rare there) and there were a lot of little pools on the granite, which were interesting. There was one larger one at the top that was deep enough for little kids to wade and splash around in.The hike is not challenging for experienced (aka fit) hikers, but it's not an easy walk in the park for those of us who are non-hikers. But it was well worth the time and effort. It takes about 45 minutes to climb up, with short rest stops. Take your walking stick if you have one, and walking at a "zig zag" really does make it easier, although it takes a big longer.I would love to camp out so as to be there after dark (it closes at 8 p.m.), particularly on a cloudless night, or on a night with a full moon, and to be able to watch the sunrise. But there's no lighting, so it would probably be difficult to hike up in any case. The views of the Hill Country are wonderful. We left Fredericksburg about 9, and I would have left earlier. It got pretty warm by the time we got to the top, and that was in mid-September.

Absolutly beautiful to breath taking scenery. The hiking trails are easy although some are easier than others. The price is not bad. The State Park is well kept with camp sites, playground for children, bathrooms and a gift store. The air and water are clean with no polution of either. Lots of trees in the park; but the mountain is bald. The bald face of the mountain is pink granit and that's part of it's beauty.

This is a unique experience. Going up just on friction on granite to the summit is hard to top. My family enjoyed it so much that we hiked around the hole mountain. Pay attention to the signs, as there are more trails marked than visible on the trail map. Big forks have written destinations, some marked trails are for climbers only.

Accessable, hard to get lost, naturally Hill Country. Easy trails if you want them. Challenging bolder scrambles if you want them. Lots of nooks and cranies. I live nearby and go there all the time and I can still find place to explore that I have never been before.

If you want to play like a kid (I wouldn't do this with small kids), the fissure at Enchanted Rock is a fun thing to do once. The multi-opening fissure descends in a northerly direction along the western side of the rock. As landmarks are few on the generally bare rock, the entrances are sometimes hard to find; ask a ranger.Bring a flashlight and some clothes for playing in the dirt-actually granite gravel. Depending on the whims of erosion, some of the passages may be filled with gravel. In that case, just climb out and find the next opening. There are no cave features, just fun. If you are not comfortable climbing up/down/around rocks, this will not be your cup of tea.
